Prices almost like they know the battery on verge of death....
Accelerated degradation in the one I could see. Would def check the battery health but still not a bad deal if you just need something that doesn’t need to go past 230miles much or ever.

I would never buy any used rental car.
People drive them like the world is going to end in three days and the employees at rental companies are certified morons who don't give a shite.
At least with a regular used car you have a decent chance that the previous owner took responsible care of it.

I’m not much of a Tesla fan but this thread reeks of insecurity. Some of you need help.

Looming battery replacement
Elon says the battery will get 300k-500k and still deliver 85% original capacity
Used Model 3 seems like a good option for a commuter car or college kid car since most campuses have chargers

Found the vin for the middle one and it’s sitting at 88%. That’s high for that car but shows what happens when a car spends most of its life level 3 charging and what range anxiety-like behavior does to the BESS.
Damn, thats a lot better than I would have assumed

Plus aren’t the tires expensive?
You can’t spell expensive without EV.

Not relatively. If you go to TireRack and compare the OE tires for a 2021 Model 3 with 19" wheels and a 2021 330i with 19s (a reasonable analog) the tires are in basically the exact same price range. They are very similar sized tires: 235 40R 19 vs 225 40R 19 (BMW). The Tesla OE tires will be EV tuned* and the BMW tires will be run-flat so those features balance out in cost. With both cars, you can choose to not get EV tuned or non-runflat tires to reduce the price some.
* electric vehicle tuned tires are indeed a thing and not just marketing mumbo-jumbo. They have a layer of a specific density of foam mated to the inside of the tire under the tread that reduces harmonics and reduces road noise. Neither are required it is just that EVs aren't as loud as ICE cars so tire noise tends to dominate so there is special emphasis by the NVH engineering teams to reduce it as much as possible.

And later pay 16k -20k to replace the battery

The Tesla 3 is a noisy car.
We have great roads in Scottsdale and both Teslas we've ridden in were very loud, especially in the rear seats. I assumed it was from the harder compounds on the tires and the relative lack of cabin insulation ( weight savings).

I do a lot of travel to and from New Orleans airport. This wouldn’t be a bad option because of distance and accessibility to charging stations.

I have bought old rental tahoes before and didn't have any more problems than I do with the ones I bought brand new. Of course, I don't think people that rent tahoes are the kind of people that rag them out either.

If it's a Nola one they probably got charged to 100% Everytime at a supercharger. Long term battery life def going to take a hit.

Read an article how people weren’t renting these things.
