Then he has a shitty attorney because he has demonstrated that he was watching this guy for an extended period of time prior to this incident and had it out for him. In his effort to claim that the guy was a racist in order to generate online support he opened the door to motive for premeditation. His "fear for his life" comments come across as pretty clearly in jest. He made his legal situation worse by his public remarks. An attorney would tell him to STFU but it's too late now.

Dude who got knocked out did make a violent move first

Plus fighter claimed the N word was used so lethal force is justified.

Open and shut case. Fighter walks.

That's right, if the N word was used then the assault was completely justified.
Also, I heard China used the N word.
We should nuke the whole country.

You’re actually mishearing it. They’re saying Uyghurs (pronounced wee-gur)

professionally trained fighters sucker punching oblivious drunk people

Sucker punch doesn't mean what you think it does. And if you watch the video close enough, Joe moves the guy to the side and when he walks past him, you can see his upper body get pushed from behind.

The guy obviously pushed him from behind then when he turned around, tie guy feinted at him as if he was about to throw a punch at Joe. Bad move. Now should Joe have restrained from the right cross? Yeah, probably. He may catch an assault charge now. But I understand why he did it.

It isn't Schilling's fault that the drunk faked an attack on a trained fighter. Don't be aggressive because you have no idea who the guy you threaten may be.

There’s a chance he could beat the rap again, though it would be a new twist on playing the race card.

‘Flexed’ at him.

Dude was shucking and jiving all over the place. The physical action is EASILY explained as a ‘dance’ move.

MMA thug will be painted as vigilante spoiling to take a ‘civilian’ down and concocts a rationalization to do it.

So much reasonable doubt against his purported defense as to not even be funny…

If you don’t see the small guy make eye contact and if at Schilling after he did some unknown thing to get Schilling’s attention to turn around…y’all are blind. Now, could he have had more restraint, maybe. But…don’t if at ppl in a damn bar.

Like the guy said, people make bad decisions.

Guy was being obnoxious all night. Why else was the guy/gal at the bar filming him? Look at him try and say shite to the waiter that comes up to the bar. That's when he bumps into MMA guy. He then says something to MMA guy. That's why he turned around. Then flexes on him. I would have done the same thing. With less hand speed. Don't let people disrespect you like that. Guy got what he deserved.

So…him rapping the lyrics of a song make him a racist. Damn near EVERY rap song has the N word in it. If you’re out blowing off steam after work and get drunk then rap a song and don’t edit out the N word just because you’re not allowed to say it even while singing a song, that doesn’t make you fricking racist.

You wouldn’t have done shite. Another keyboard warrior talking tough from the security of your sofa. Drunk guy probably would have mopped the floor with you.

 so now we have graduated from black people using the defense of “they used the N word” to a white dude using the defense that “he used the n word around a black person so I had to do something.”

Like attacking some drunk guy?

That’s pretty open and shut assault case especially since it was caught on video.

As I’ve said before, people like Joe Rogan like to claim that guys who are trained fighters are the nicest people and less likely to do anything violent because they don’t have the insecurities that lead people into fights… which on the surface makes some sense, but my personal life experience combined with multiple incidents of “high profile” UFC/MMA fighters such as this, prove that it is simply not true. I am not saying that everyone who is a trained fighter is violent or prone to violence against random people, but it turns out people that are drawn to that type of thing and know they are good at it, are more likely to be involved with something like this. Who could have guessed? Also, just want to add, seem like dude was acting like a drunk arse hole, but it’s not the MMA guys job to play judge, jury, and as it were… executioner.

Not totally disagreeing with you but I think it comes down to to scared and proud.

Most people will avoid confrontations for one of those two reasons. But in dealing with a trained fighter you remove scared and proud. Professional fighters are neither scared of fighting or losing; ergo, a lot of the natural aversion to fighting is not present in a given confrontation.
