Why does distilling need government approval?

So they can tax the ever living shite out of it.

Every single item in that picture is legal to posses and use to make alcohol. I don't see any distillation equipment, and judging by the color of the liquids, they ain't fermenting with the intention of distilling it.

But thanks for law enforcement for protecting us and keeping us safe by busting this "moonshiner."

Dekalb County is slipping. Usually, its meth. It's a damn shame what they've become.

Fun fact, the town of Fyffe is 10 miles down the road from Rainsville. Best known for their UFO Festival. It's also a shithole.

Wine isn't distilled.

Making wine isn't illegal.

I'm guessing peach or apricot wine. It looks to all be wine judging by the colors and amount of wine bottling hardware. Looks like a good time to me.

It actually wasn't legal in Alabama until recently. Some time within the past decade? I can't remember the exact date it passed.

I’m pretty sure whether or not it’s whiskey, wine, or brew, it can’t be done at a publicly owned facility by public servants. I’m thinking there’s all kinds of ethics laws that apply here.

Just like I can’t use my classroom for my home brewing.

Let's be honest, the only parts of Dekalb County that aren't a shithole are Desoto State Park, Mentone, and the Little River Canyon.

Oh it's no doubt a fireable offense. Just not sure it should be heralded as some sort of major crime bust.

They brag about this bust, but probably drove by 10 meth labs to get there.

Yeah, this is complete horse shite. If people want to be jackasses about it, I guess they could ding these people for using the time / space of their employer to make wine... but doing anything more than asking them to stop or maybe writing them up is extreme-level douchery in my opinion.

ETA the specific crime here seems to be merely possessing alcohol at all in unincorporated Dekalb County, AL. Dear God what a wasteland that place must be...
