They say, "Location, Location, Location...."
WHNT 19

quote:

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. – Authorities are investigating an illegal alcohol making operation that was discovered at the Rainsville Wastewater Treatment Plant facility on Horton Road.

quote:

DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Brad Gregg says they got an anonymous complaint about it on Thursday.

quote:

Investigators say it appears city employees are making alcohol.

Would you drink it? I think it is a hard pass for me.

Well, not knowing much about the details, if they are using freshly cleaned water, then it might be the cleanest water around. Getting to it before it gets in the pipes and picks up who knows what.

Looks like they're making beer, not distilling alcohol, which is 100% legal.

ETA: Yeah, every bit of that is homebrewing equipment. Not a still to be seen. Sounds like more fake news reporting.

From the article.

quote:

I want to thank the mayor for his cooperation and willingness to allow law enforcement to do our job and shut something like this down,” said DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden. “This is definitely one of the biggest operations we’ve seen in our county and possibly our state. A big thanks to the public and their tips against ALL illegal activities. Once again, it doesn’t matter who you are, no one is above the law. We won’t tolerate anyone using their position to hide their illegal actions at the taxpayer’s expense.

It's a fricking home winemaking and homebrewing "operation". It was passed into law by Jimmy Carter. It is not ILLEGAL. Sounds like Deputy Fife thinks he's a DEA agent on a bust, when in reality, he ruined someone's hobby.

WYDI?

Nope. I don't drink anything that comes from Alabama, whether it be wastewater plant whiskey or that Kool-Aid they're always pushing in Tuscaloosa.

Why does distilling need government approval? If someone wants to brew and drink toilet water, why should we care?

Yeah. And the police and media are bragging as if they discovered 100 kilos of Columbian White Pearl. In reality, they "busted" Larry's homemade wine making hobby.

Well, for starters, you don't distill wine, unless you are trying to make shine, and even then, that's a lot of effort and waste to turn wine into shine.
Secondly, it's just holdover from prohibition. No rational reason as to why. Jimmy Carter forgot to add distilling in his decriminalizing home wine and beer making.

Side note: Pico-brew makes a full electric brewing/distilling equipment that is pretty neat. But expensive.

I blame the Baptists.

Hell, I think that homebrewing was illegal in Alabama until around 10 years ago. shite hole.

Those are wine carboys. Probably a blackberry or blueberry wine.

My stepdad makes blackberry wine that’ll knock your dick in the dirt.
