A woman who runs up 30K in gambling debt in a couple of days has problems beyond gambling that will manifest somewhere else in the future.

Hope he realizes that she has several credit cards shes hiding from him and he will be fricked when it comes out. I can guarantee you that she has a lot more hidden debt that he has no clue about

Sorry your wife isn't smart enough to understand blackjack or roulette

I was in the mortgage industry for a long time and after video poker became legal it was a regular thing to see bank records of an addicted wife. You would see multiple daily withdrawals from a generic atm adding up to the tens of thousands of dollars. One wife had run up over six figures of credit cards to feed her habit without her husband's knowledge. I hate to sound sexist but it was almost always the wife. The men were better at hiding it I guess.

As a libertarian I should want gambling legal but it was passed based on the lie that it would save education and help our economy. In reality, it mostly drains money from our own citizens and targets groups like seniors on fixed incomes. There have been a rash of murders in this state since legalization connected to gambling including the River Parishes serial killer who was feeding a video poker habit. And as more states legalize it, the meager benefits it offers are lessened.

My dad gambled away a small fortune after the Shreveport Casino's came in.

He would go into some catatonic state (of psycho-motor immobility and behavioral abnormality manifested by stupor) every time he walked in.

I'd hate to know the entire amount but my mom had to take control of all finances before he bankrupt them. It was terrible.

I went with her several times to get him after the casino called, he would be drunk off his arse.

I'd left her there as soon I found out about the 30k.

Frick that noise she blew enough money for a car or house addition.

Side story my freinds parents where gamblers and got in trouble with their house payments. Their solution was to go to Tunica to win the money to get caught up. Crazy as that plan was she hit a machine for like 5 Grand and they put the money up in a safe. Well next morning he wakes up to head home she had lost it all back and they lost their house.

Unmarried but my experience is most attractive women focus on things like fitness or dogs than learning how to gamble

He better hope and pray it is just credit cards.

Gambling addicts will do anything to get money. For all he knows....she could have gone to one of those sleazy title loan places to get more gambling money. He may not own his vehicles anymore.

Or...she could have written a bunch of bad checks and now he has to worry about her doing jail time.

Tammy Wynette said it best. "D-I-V-O-R-C-E"

If she could have no reservations about running up $30K in gambling debts over a couple days, what's going to happen if your brother has to go out of town on business for a week.

No way in hell he could keep his mind on the task at hand with worrying if he'll come home to a house owned by Harrah's in the end.

I know a couple over in bayou country that lost their house, cars, savings, etc. over fricking BINGO for Christ sake.

When the gambling bug bites your arse, it can get real nasty, real quick.

The ones like Bingo, Video Poker and the Lottery are more insidious than the Casinos. It is "closer to home" and easier to hide than having to actually walk into a casino. It is like a crack addict having a crack vending machine in the neighborhood rather than having to find a dealer.

sounds like the casino gave her markers so these are unlikely

although, casino markers (at least in LC) are technically checks, so if you don't pay you can get criminal charges

If they gave her markers it is possible he could negotiate those down if he is willing to threaten the casino with targeting a problem gambler.

That’s true, if she told him about 30k it’s probably closer to 100k

My EX sister in law was receiving free rooms and meals from the Mississippi casinos. Debt was around 65k when the train ran off the tracks and divorce came soon after.

Hope you brother can work things out.

Stopped reading here. No one wants your political opinion in a thread where we can relentlessly make fun of the OP and his wife. GTFO with that nonsense.
