To break up with him? It's not hard to get flowers and a cake in mid May.

I literally got "Have a good day" which is the same thing I get everyday. He claims he didn't forget and he was being genuine and he didn't want to use the typical cliche HBD message.
This is obvious bullshite right here. I am sure you don't really buy it, but if there is any benefit of the doubt here.. Don't give it to him. There are a million other ways to "not be cliche" while still acknowledging your BD. And Happy Birthday by the way. Even though you think I suck.

Pox, this is all that matters. If it's a big deal to you, then you have to decide if he's worth keeping around. If not, dump him. If so, he needs to understand that this is important to you and can be a deal breaker. Happy Birthday

Your mind makes you kick things around and observe them from every angle, relentlessly.
You are eventually going To fire up the blamethrower and make him pay for your day today with a vengeance. It will be cold and calculated.
FWIW, I think that instead of a head shot, you should go with the death of 1000 paper cuts.
Happy belated birthday and good luck.

He had that planned all along
What other groceries did he get while he was at the store tonight?

Yeah, Pox, make it to the end of this clip. Not hard to get flowers and cake after what you said to him: Mad Love

He showed up with flowers and a cake. I'm a psycho bitch who feels like a complete POS right now. Y'all were right. Peace out OT.
Happy Belated Birthday!
Of course he showed up with flowers and a cake, even if he didn't have this planned or forgot, you gave him ALL DAY to figure out how to deal with your batshit craziness.

Nevermind

If it's that important to her, this is something she'll never forget. She'll remember every single detail of it in 10 years and still be pissed
She'll look back and laugh at herself for feeling that 30 is old.
You're not even in your prime, yet, Pox. Happy Birthday! (I'm glad he came through for you.)

If this happened first thing in the AM, you have to cut the guy a break. I forget my birthday sometimes until I'm sitting at my desk at work. I forgot the cards for Mother's Day at our house before leaving to visit my parents. I remember eventually and most times already have gifts or something. But early in the AM, it slips my mind as I'm getting ready.

I forgot my husband's birthday 2 years ago. My rec tennis team had made it to city finals and I was caught up in scheduling and excitement. I remembered about 5 minutes before he walked in the door from work but too late to get a card or make his favorite dinner. I felt horrible for my selfishness! I apologized and wrote a nice letter that I tucked into his briefcase for the next day and made plans to celebrate that weekend. He pretty much has a free pass to forget an important holiday for me now.
TL/DR It happens. It sucks. Let him make it up to you.

Dude's weak excuse of "not wanting to be cliche" was lame and likely a lie
That being said, pox did herself zero favors with her premature public melt.
Major mistakes on both sides appear evident

Scruffy finds birthdays, presents, and other stuff like that to be completely useless.
Don't really care, but that's just Scruffy's opinion.
