The one I'm familiar is also into essential oils and was antivax before it was cool. She's also one of those super devout Catholics who even makes other Catholics uncomfortable.

Every single person I've talked to who's used a doula (myself included) has said they're worth every penny.

The joke is they make dads look good...but it's kinda true. All the shite a husband wants to remember during labor to help their wife, there's now an extra person reminding/helping who knows exactly what the wife wants.

ETA: I think the good ones do as much or as little of the hippie shite as their client wants.
