The bit was more along the line of the inarguable atrocities committed by the Catholic church throughout its history. Stanhope was saying that when compared to the nazis, the Catholic church scares him more. It was only a bit tongue-in-cheek, as he is unapologetically anti organized religion.

You are right. I grew up Catholic but was never really a good one. My wife on the other hand was a die hard until those scandals hit. She walked away and refuses to even go to Mass any more. I wonder how many other people feel the same way. I see attendance seems to be down a good bit.

It's easy to skew the overhead percentage when from 2008 to 2016 the US Gov pumped billions of dollars into Catholic Charities to coordinate the relocation of tens of thousands of Middle Eastern and African Muslim refugees into certain rust-belt states that were in need of having their populations and economies boosted. The Lutherans were in on this scam too.
