Most charities are POS

My old coworker got drunk one night and told us he started a charity for his kid with autism a year prior and he only had to give 8% of donations to the actual charity.

He said he’d received over 100k that year from different companies.

Most of the donations sent to the pope’s main charity collection—more than $55 million per year—goes toward plugging the hole in the Vatican’s own administrative budget, while as little as 10% is spent on charitable works, ?
@FrancisXRocca scoops.

I've often found it ironic that priests have to swear an oath of poverty yet the Catholic headquarters is the most opulent place on Earth

Nobody should be shocked at this. I mean, the Vatican has a 2,000 year old record that we can point to that is littered with this kind of behavior.

it's funny because it is true.

You want to start a church with a cover charge?

If it were not for Public Schools being Dumpster Fires, Catholicism would be nearly dead in Louisiana. My friends who are involved with the Catholic Church are only involved because of the schools. They don't even attend the church they live in most times. They go to whichever one is popular and fight to send their kids to that school. Their faith is based around how popular their school is and the people that go there.

Welcome to the entirety of the history of organized religion.

It has always been a social event rather than a spiritual one, though people don't like to admit that.

These mega churches essentially do. They have ATMs outside and really push tithing to their members.

It's pitiful people can't see through that shite.

The Catholic Church is and always has been a corrupt and evil organization.

Not your run of the mill small town churches, but the higher ups and the Vatican are more political and about money and power than religion.

Call it whatever you want, isnt that what passing around the plate is anyway?

Just because I do it at a different time doesnt mean its any different.

I just make sure I get mine. Maybe Ill have to tie it in the doors, like they will only open with donation.

Someone needs to read Bavinck on Catholicity. He explains the reason why Roman Catholicism isn’t the answer. It’s always been overly concerned with status.

I never understood that criticism.

"Hey, this guy was Nazi Youth member when kids in Germany had to be part of the Nazi Youth group! frick him!"

When the more disturbing and pertinent thing was how he had handled the abuse crisis in all the stages of his priesthood career.

Must say the 300 million dollar annual budget mentioned was a surprise. That's some serious overhead.

But this is nothing compared to the pedophilia over decades that was going on. I walked away from the church over that one.
