No it wasn’t.
The Biden admin drastically increased bullshite advocacy grants, yes. But still, STEM grants outpaced those bullshite advocacy grants far and away. And the margins weren’t close.

You just can’t be this f*cking stupid. They’re not peacefully protesting in accordance with the first amendment. They're taking over campuses, breaking into buildings, terrorizing Jewish students just trying to get to class and live in their dorms, and all while wearing mask to hide their identity. That’s not what the “first amendment applies to."

At one time it was the Far Right-KKK, White Citizen’s Council and others that were notorious for their anti-Semitism. Today, it is the Far Left that are the anti-Semites. It’s open season on Jews and Christians.

It is not about popular speech....everyone hates cancer....it's about unpopular speech....a few idiots in the world probably think cancer is a positive thing in that it keeps the human population in check. It's the latter the first amendment is protecting.
The issue isn't free speech. It's the trespassing, damage to campus, targeted intimidation, harassment, and blocking Jewish students from attending class, among other things, that's the problem. That kind of thing is illegal anywhere and isn't protected.
They have every right to be out there saying the same dumb shite that you support.

Degrees may make you educated but they are not guaranteed to make you smart or logical.

I agree, but how the DOJ and USCIS go after this has to be done very, very carefully. We know that the federal judiciary needs to be venue/judge shopped in any attempt to get a fair legal ruling, rather than just a left wing tantrum by an Obama/Biden appointee.

Cut all funding these these universities.
They have had the scales tipped in their favor for far too long.
Pretty crazy the grads of these schools then get to choose to send our tax dollars to these same schools.

Really? I see someone who has spent more time in a classroom than in the real world. Book smart but probably doesn’t know her arse from a hole in the ground.

I am certain all of this is true but it is not why the moron student is on the verge of being deported...this is the Whitehouse's words, not mine:
"The White House, elaborating more on its position Tuesday, claimed Khalil organized protests where pro-Hamas propaganda was distributed".
The white house is not making the claims you are making, they are claiming he organized a protest where pro-Hamas propaganda as distributed. Exactly the type of free speech the first amendment was meant to protect.....its idiotic to support Hamas and worse to distribute their propaganda....but it is exactly the type of unpopular speech that is protected.
The state department is accusing him of basically aiding a terrorist organization....this is a legit accusation. It is not what the white house is up in arms about....they are up in arms about free speech....as is almost everyone on the US today, except for the middle 50% of us. The far right swears they can't say anything and the far left swears the same thing and both groups would like nothing better than to prevent the other from speaking freely.

No school with a $14.8 billion endowment should be getting a dime of taxpayer money.

There is no less antisemitism on the part of the far right today than there has ever been...it is still pretty much a standard grievance of the far right ("Jews Will Not Replace Us", whatever the frick that means). It is now a standard amongst the idiots on the far left. Any stupid fricker who thinks Palestinian shares any of their leftist world view is beyond help. Palestinians and Muslims in general think women and homosexuals are not human beings and therefore not worthy of life, let alone liberty. That should be more than enough for any leftist to refuse to support them in any way. It is not, the opposite is true, the far left and far right are far more closer to agreeing on the premise that women and homosexuals are not human than they are to disagreeing.....

The far right is not supportive of Jews, not today, not yesterday and will not be tomorrow. The misinformed idiots on the far left who are demonstrating against ISRAEL are not demonstrating against Judaism and Jews. Are they harassing Jewish students? Absolutely...because the students in question have also expressed their first amendment rights and the idiots on the far left were offended.
At the end of the day it is entirely possible to criticize Israel and Hamas in the same breath....they are both guilty of heinous human right atrocities over the years. Neither side has much of a moral high ground....but I do not think it is the policy of Israel or Jews in general to target Palestinian women and children simply to punish Palestinians by killing women and children. I don' think Israel will hesitate to accept massive numbers of innocent people in their defense but I don't think killing women and children is the goal, only an unfortunate by product of the goal that is acceptable. This is not, in my understanding, true of Hamas. It is my understanding that they will indeed target women and children to instill fear in their foe. Knowing that they consider women less than human it is not hard to imagine them being less than concerned about killing women and kids.

It’s the same idiots who were torching Minneapolis and Kenosha and now destroying Teslas. They’re terrorists, plain and simple.

My Alma mater has a science program which is one of the top in its field in the world. The rest of the faculty resents the frick out of it because they have a lot of power due to all the grants they pull in.

Most of the active Georgia fans on this board must be far right, then. The rest of the cowards just hide behind upvotes on their anti-Semitic posts and claim they're just about Israel.
There are far fewer neo-nazis and KKK members than there are graduates of the Ivy league and downstream detritus (Ann Arbor, Madison, Austin, etc.), so they're less of an actual problem.

a faculty civil war that pits medical doctors and engineers against political scientists and humanities scholars over how to handle pro-Palestinian demonstrations that have disrupted campus life.
A war with those who don't against those who do.
quote:
Those faculty more sympathetic to Palestinians control key committees on the faculty senate and have sought to limit discipline against protesters and restrictions on protests. That helps explain why Columbia didn’t restrict student disruptions on campus as aggressively as other schools, according to interviews with faculty members.
Across campus, scientists and engineers have been less invested in the protests partly, several said, because they were too focused on their work to get involved. Now those researchers are being disproportionately punished by having grants and contracts canceled, said Larisa Geskin, a professor in the school of medicine at Columbia and cancer researcher.
IOW, the scientists and engineers were too busy working and earning their pay.
