You freeball while running? That sounds like a horrible idea.

To do it properly you should plan on shelling out well over a grand. Woman love men in kilts.

I'd wear a purple & gold kilt to the games if I had one, easy access to take a leak

Then you're doing it wrong. An expensive kilt is a few hundred bucks, average of probably $500-700. Depends on whether it's completely wool, custom fitted, what weight (density) you're getting, etc. Now that's over a grand for sure if you get brogans, a sporran (pocket), flashes, socks, etc. of high dress quality. Maybe that's what you meant. But that's for fairly formal settings.

You can get a nice wear-to-the-bar kilt for somewhere around $200, if wool. A sports kilt for running, lounging, highland games, and the like can go right over a hundred, if I remember the price of mine correctly. They're machine washable, made to get dirty, etc.

It's a fun hobby/piece of culture to get into.

My step brother is of Scottish heritage and will have his wedding there. We are to wear kilts in the wedding party. We are also going to do some highland games.

The Scots had the dress code figured out.

I'd would love for our cultural norm to be men wearing kilts or something similar.

All summer long, us guys in coats and ties are hot as balls and the ladies in skirts or dresses are freezing. Every single summer in the South.

Add tam, clan crest badge, jacket, shirt, sporran, belt, dirk, hose, flashes, shoes, etc.

You can go cheap if that is what you like to do but I like to do it right.

problem with a "traditional" wool kilt is theres no pockets. thats OK for ceremonial/inside wear if thats your thing but for being out and about outside its a hassle

i know those sporran pouches are traditional, but that defeats the purpose of the kilt (simple, functional, comfortable) at least for me

the utilikilt/5.11 kilt is a good compromise especially in the summer

Have one of the expensive custom ones for a pipe band uniform. Have had women try to lift it in a parade. Always get asked what’s under it.

I personally don’t find it that comfortable. It’s heavy and one correctly worn goes up high (like where a cummerbund is worn). It is also hot as hell when there is no breeze.
