I know a guy who used to bartend at one of my bars. He wore a kilt every shift. He no longer bartends and I have yet to see him in a kilt since.
Anyway, whenever he's in a kilt, the most common question people give him is asking what he's wearing underneath it. His reply was always "lipstick."
I don't know if I hate or love that answer, but it's pretty douchey.

The name for the pouch worn on the front is a “sporran”.
Per one professor I had from the UK, he once wore a kilt and had a student ask him “What do you keep in your scrotum?” by accident instead.
