Some chatter about buying it from Denmark

Trump Force One visiting Greenland Jan 2025

quote:

Well, we need Greenland for national security purposes ...You have approximately 45,000 people there. People really don't even know if Denmark has any legal right to it. But if they do, they should give it up because we need it for national security. That's for the free world. I'm talking about protecting the free world," Trump said.

quote:

Danish officials have continued to emphasize that Greenland is not for sale.

I think this is just an attempt to drive a bargain with mineral rights there.

But if he's serious and Greenland became a US territory.....it will be visited by lot of construction workers, oilfield workers, and military service members.

I'd like to visit anyway. Iceland seems like a cool place too.

My lack of interest in traveling to Greenland has no basis on who owns it.

If he's serious.......the Virgin Islands, Alaska, and the Louisiana Purchase all worked out for the US. We seem to spot good real estate.

Greenland has a lot of minerals and hydrocarbons that we could use for consumption and the locals can use to build wealth.

yeah in the summer wherever the greener area is.

But I hate places like that. They have the 24 hours of darkness and 24 hours of daylight days. So def not somewhere I can live.

Didnt they just plant a flag and leave a bottle of alcohol?

It was something not climatic like that.
