Thread inspired by the woman who hit and killed the teen in the UK and afterwards claimed diplomatic immunity so she could return to the US and not face charges.

You have the card available once for any offense. Do you use it?

I've got several of those cards scattered over the state of Louisiana, the reason that I have them available is because I conduct myself in a manner that makes it highly unlikely that I would need to use them, but I have seen them used and they are real

ETA: and another reason I'm such a standup guy is that I don't live in Louisiana

There's been a few people I've crossed paths with in my life that I would have liked to send to the dentist with no repercussions

Don't tempt me, baw. I'm a good person at the core, but I have human weakness just like everybody else.

I fear I would have a "settle an old score" attitude about it.

You mean beloved twitter user and fantasy football expert OJ Simpson?

Love that guy, why would he be a pariah? He seems like such a sweet old man.

I’m a dumbass when it comes to this type stuff, so excuse my ignorance.

Why is Trump not sending ole girl back over? He went out of his way for the rapper not long back, correct?

I dunno. So much shite happens these days.

Doesn't the State Dept generally waive immunity in cases like this? The immunity is there to protect against political harrassment through criminal courts. It's not there to protect the guilty.

But me personally? Hell yeah I would use it. Real life donations to Sheriff and DA campaigns don't really count as a "get out of jail free card" but it's worth a few hundred to be seen as a good guy and part of the community in the eyes that matter.

OTers use it to get out of traffic tickets all the time while complaining about OTHER peoples corruption.

The diplomatic immunity card ...you'd need to ask this question in D.C. and the NYC areas (United Nations) where this has been used by folks from foreign countries to get off free.

Asking Americans not to use something that has been freely used by other countries' citizens on our soils would be a double standard.

posted this before but years ago I played in an over 35 basketball league when I lived in south la, on the team were a few frat bros, one a prominent attorney, another the parish DA, after a game one night we were at the local after game watering hole and the attorney gets a call, another frat bro has been popped for DUI, after the call he tells the DA who then calls the lockup and tells them to process him out, someone is on the way to pick him up, end of the case right then and there
