I thought that’s how it worked as well, apparently part of your sponsorship means they have to stay at 125% of the poverty rate there are all kinds of things written in there…

I did one time write a letter etc. At exactly 5 years, a divorce ensued. Never again. It was a family member.

Probably so. The older I get the more I come to believe that blood is the only thing that matters.

Nope. In fact, if you marry a foreign national you have about double the time to get things approved.

Wife was Canadian and we did the K1 Visa 30 years ago. It was a shite ton of hassle and money and the govt lost our paperwork giving us a setback and double the cost because they couldn't give a shite. Then multiple trips to downtown Atlanta every time there was an interview or to fix their screw ups waiting from 6am on piss soaked steps to try and get in.

She's a fully naturalized citizen, but none of that came automatically or for free. There is a reason most just hop the fence and do it illegally. I'm not for it, but I'm not a fan of Immigration and Naturalization Service. And Hell no I wouldn't sponsor him. Chances are he's either Indian or Chinese anyway.

What is wrong with your family?

What is wrong with you? Why would they even come to you for support.

Does this mean if you sponsor him, that it makes you financially responsible for him if he can’t provide for himself?

Hell to the no

Your sister earns minimum wage or something?
