Nope. We did put a Tile under the sole of my 4yr olds shoe though when we went to Disney world.

No, because it is a gateway to government or hackers gaining access to their movements and locations.
You realize that google knows if you are posting this from your living room or your shitter, right?

Not unless I was the only one with a tracking device. Even that scenario has holes in it. What if one spouse or the other was abusive, forcing the other parent to grab the kids and flee for safety? Should the kids have the ability to turn it off? And, couldn't hackers just figure out a way to jam them, provided that chip implants were a common practice?

I understand the reservations. I probably would not do it.
I was a child when the Atlanta serial killer happened in the 80’s. I watched the documentary the other day about it. Just made me curious about if people would consider the option.

That's a great idea and it's not obvious.
Our 9yo has an LG cellphone watch/gps. It kinda looks like a toy.

No but I have considered a foot in the arse a few times. She’s 3 though so I back off.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, roughly 800,000 children are reported missing each year in the United States -- that's roughly 2,000 per day. Of those, there are 115 child "stranger abduction" cases each year, which means the child was taken by an unknown person.
This is 2013 data

What do you think the manufacturer or data storage company will do with the information from that chip? I'm guessing they'll do exactly what Google, Facebook and other tech companies do: sell or willingly provide that information to the government. Pretty soon, our every movement will be tracked, if it already isn't. And we'll do it under the guise of safety.

What I really want are the people kidnapping the kids to start lopping off parts to get rid of the microchips.

Great idea, but only works in proximity

I love the "gubmint's not gonna track me!" people who are posting this from their fricking spacephones.

The gubment are the last people I am worried about tracking my child.

I think we should just put ankle monitors on them. No anesthesia required.
