If there was any grey area I'd likely find a reason not to.

But if it was clear as black and white they committed a horrible crime, I think eventually I'd have to. You're kind of morally guilty yourself if you know he's guilty and he don't do anything

Yes. And I would question where I went wrong the rest of my life. I feel really bad for parents who have kids that do this kind of thing if they actually tried to raise him right.

I would force mine to turn themselves in. You were man enough to commit the action, you're going to be man enough to face up to it.

My son is youngest, so if this were him, all my kids are grown, and for the record I’d kill myself before I handed my son to the authorities.

I would turn him in indirectly. My first call would be to a defense attorney who could then be there with my kid every step of the way.

They did the crime and need to do their time; but how, where, and for how long they do that time can still be somewhat negotiated.

This.

I would imagine that secretly the father knew something was going to happen, there is no way a kid is this crazy and there were not signs along the way.

I probably would have beaten him so bad. There wouldn't have been anything to haul off. To take another man's life because you don't agree with his views, I would beat the snot out of him.

Yes. I wouldn’t have to because my kids were raised or are being raised not to break the law.

Great concept, but not always reality. I'm sure this guy's dad, a cop no less, raised his son to be a law abiding citizen.

Just because you feel you raised them right doesn't mean they will follow your morals and advice that you tried to instill in them.

They become independent thinking adults and go their own way and sometimes it's contradictory to the way you'd rather they went, but that was THEIR decision.

All you can really do as a parent is hope for the best once they are out of the nest and on their own.

I think you’d have to if it was something like this. No choice. Love you son. I’m sorry.
this. minor stuff, I'll handle it internally. Raping a girl/boy, child molestation, murder; they are getting turned in with me by their side the whole way, walk the tough journey to repentance with him/her.

I honestly don’t know. I don’t have kids but I have nieces and nephews that I see all the time and love as close as possible to what I would feel for my own kids.

For something like this I would think yes, because they’re is no way they don’t eventually get caught in today’s day and age with cameras everywhere and location tracking.

But something on the smaller scale I really would struggle with it.

It would have to be a one off, not a piece of shite that did terrible shite constantly. Even murder, like got in a fight and ended up killing the other guy. I would try and talk them into turning themselves in but I would really struggle to turn them in.

Reports are saying the father turned in Charlie Kirk’s killer. I would but man that would be a tough thing to do having to do that to the little boy you raised
the dad loved his kid enough that he likely saved his life by turning him in.

Kid may have already been thinking of suicide, or suicide by cop.

Congrats on your reward money.

I would absolutely accept the money.

Then immediately cut a check for the total to a foundation that fights against this happening again.

Correct. Put a stop to the manhunt. Keep him alive by avoiding a shootout with law enforcement. Alive at least until he is executed by the state.

Never
This. I wouldn't help him, but call the cops and restrain my own kid till they got there? Never. Now, I'm thinking about my son when I answer this question. Maybe if I had a kid warped enough to do something like this, I wouldn't love him the way I do the son I have. Plenty of parents fall out with their kids for a variety of reasons. Not all sons are as great as mine.
