Would you leave a job you like for significantly higher pay?

Recently been offered a new gig.
Pros: Instant promotion, Significantly higher pay (nearly double), Cheaper cost of living city, and closer to family, no kids.
Cons: Shittier city, and i'm not particularly looking to leave my job right now.
Thinking about giving my current company a chance to match the offer, but I haven't been here long and it's a significant jump up.
What says the OT smartasses?

What's your upward mobility at your current company?

I'd do it. You don't have to live there forever.

Well, is it for a job you would hate?

depends your industry. i'm in the oil field. I wouldn't leave my job right now. that money looks like until you are laid off in three months by the new company.
the only way i go is that i would need my first year's salary up front.

No kids, closer to family, double the pay with a lower cost of living!? You'd be a fool not to.

What's the city you'd be moving to?
I would leave for higher pay, but it would need to be at least 15-20% higher, or the cost of living would need to be significantly lower. And I'd only move to places that I'm very interested in living.
Right now I'm considering a move to Santa Barbara, CA, but I am leaning towards staying here in NYC. Santa Barbara is beautiful, but it's much smaller, almost as expensive as NYC, and I hear that the dating scene is shitty.

Your current employer will not match it most likely so it sounds like you're moving soon.

It would depend on what city
I don't think I'd move from Austin to Lubbock or similar city

are we talking doubling 30k, 50K, 200K...? how's the stability of the two compare, will you be maxed out at the new place? what's the potential at the current place?
Posted on 4/18/16 at 1:05 pm to TDcline
Maybe, but it depends on if the position gets you closer or further from where you ultimately want to be.

Would leave in a second. Easy decision.

the shitty ness of the moving-to city better be off the charts, or you take that job NOW.
You may enjoy the power when you give current boss chance to double your salary and a promotion. I suggest you forego that part and just accept the offer. it would make him jealous and leave a bad taste. Just go.
Accept the offer.

I would miss Austin, but I would still leave.

I did, about a year ago. It can be a little scary, and I think there have to be other favorable factors supporting a move, other than just higher pay. So far, it has worked out pretty well for me.
