the “white collar country club” image is very false.

They exist. I used to have to visit one for work. No fences, landscaped grounds, guys chilling out. Almost felt like a college campus other than the uniforms and middle-aged guys.

Club fed doesn’t refer to medium security federal prisons. That term is reserved for satellite prison camps that are usually next door to the real prisons, like the one your friend went to.

The satellite prison camps are below even minimum security and no one with a violent record can go to them. The medium security federal prisons aren’t going to be like OPP or Angola in the 80s and will have some semblance of order but there are still gangs, fights and stabbings.

What was your friend in for?

As for the OP, I doubt the guy will get 10 years for possession. He will get that for manufacturing or for being in the videos with the victims. My girlfriend’s close friend had a sibling who was arrested for that somewhat recently and he was caught with full proof and admitted to the crime. Very disturbing stuff. He has step siblings that are preteens (nothing to do with the videos, thankfully), and he will no longer be permitted to see them according to his parents. I believe he tried to commit suicide soon after the indictment and before the trial. He recently went to trial and got 18 months. I assume he will be in protective custody from day one. Unsure what kind of prison he is going to in terms of security but it’s a state prison and not federal.

Even the minimunm security camps suck hard. No fences, etc., but it’s men jammed in bunk beds a foot apart in a room like sardines. If inmate 3 farts or snores, inmate 97 will know and smell it. No privacy, no control over your daily activities, same shitty meals over and over, rough toilet paper, minimal medical care when sick, etc. They aren’t sitting around watching the Tigers game and drinking beer.

That said, don’t kill yourself over a sentence of years. I’ve seen a number of folks go in, do a stretch of 1 to 10 years, and come out and resume decent lives.

If ever arrested for anything that could net me more than a year, if the powers that be made the mistake of letting me bond out, I would be a gone mother fricker.

They must have been independently wealthy or owned their own businesses. Conviction of a felony is a life sentence with the baggage it carries.

just saw on TD the other night some teacher accused of raping a kid went into the woods and killed himself, I'd suggest your friend do the same. That way we won't look down on him as a burden to society, just as a filthy pedophile who had the balls to do what's right.

In general from what I have read prison isn't the violent fantasy that a lot of people want to imagine. Just a bunch of people who want to mind their own business and do their time.

I employ prisoners who are in a transitional work program. Some want to mind their own business and get out but some don’t. One of my guys now just had his false teeth put in because someone upstate beat his old ones out of his mouth.

Was that the law firm partner that got busted?

Honestly, if I was him, I'd off myself. That dude is looking at a lot of time if convicted. As a kiddie lover no less.

Yes that’s him. I found the arrest warrant online and it’s gross. I don’t have any inside knowledge as far as plea deal or whatever.

I knew a guy in Iraq who was a former Corrections Officer, he told me you do NOT ever want to go to prison for sex crimes against a woman or a child, especially a child. Not sure how he'll be treated for watching it but given what I heard what happens to those actually doing the act it wont be anything nice. I wont share but he went into graphic detail of the visual aftermaths...

Unarmed bank robbery. Did a very surprising short amount of time for it.
He did mention the camp and said they were fairly laid back. However he said that it took a solid amount of good time in the medium before being able to go to the camp.
