Would you kill yourself instead of prison? (Update)

Guy I know is scheduled for trial soon, for kiddie porn. I don’t know what exactly he’s looking at, but considering it’s in a tough jurisdiction and it was a lot of porno, lets say he will get a decade in prison. His arrest was a year ago, so he’s had time to prepare. I don’t keep in touch with him so not sure what he’s been doing since the arrest.
Would you kill yourself? Take boxing or krav maga lessons? Try to flee?

If it was for child porn then yes. For something else, no, I’d just get use to it and do prison life like on Coolhand Luke.

Go take out your short list. Plead to murder 1. Get put on death row. That'll get you your own cell, and there will be a couple thousand snowflakes begging for your pardon and release everytime your execution date comes up.

My good friend was busted for this. He downloaded BS from lime wire and got caught for child porn. I have know him for a very long time and he has 2 young kids so I know very well that it's BS. But he doesn't know how much time he will serve yet just that's its likely. Sad situation. I wouldnt kill myself if I'm sentenced for 10 years. Life yes. I have kids. There is no way I'm leaving this world for 10 years in a cell.

After speaking with somebody that did time at Beaumont Medium (medium security Federal prison) , the “white collar country club” image is very false. He said he was one of 10 white guys in a pod with 150+. Majority being Mexicans that crossed illegally.

The justice system is aware of how at-risk they are and doesn't really want to get sued if the family has any ability to go that route.
