Yes but we break it up with fun places along the way so we aren't in the car all the time.

this is my answer..we recently did a trip from Shreveport to Jacksonville/atlantic beach... straight shot its 13 or so hours, but we took 2 weeks and stopped along the way...never spent more than 3 hours in car between places...really was a perfect route

We have done them and I will do them again, We have done trips out west a couple of times and I enjoy the road trips. We will normally push really hard the first day, knocking out about 1200 mile or 17 hours then slowing down the pace the rest of the trip till we head home.

I drove a 1700 mile round trip on a 8 day vacation to Moab UT. Had a good time just driving there and home but a lot of its who's keeping you company on the trip.

Workplaces want you to take your time off on long weekends and extended holidays so there is less disruption. The two week vacation or summer month off are becoming rarer and rarer.

Need a better employer.

And even if your employer is amenable to long absences most people save those for an emergency, like the death of a parent or an illness.

That's on them.

Yes!. Sugar Land to New Mexico, then Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, back to Colorado, then back to Sugar Land, TX.

Was a great trip and spent a little over 2 weeks on the road. Only recommendation is to try and plan your stops so you can stay a minimum of 2 nights wherever you stop. If it means grinding out a long day of driving so be it. Too many one night stops and it starts sucking real fast.

I've always wanted to do the Route 66 trip just to see what's left of it.

If you do the Route 66 trip, make sure you plan on a stop in Shamrock, TX. They modeled part of Ramone's body shop of a couple of buildings in town...

Yes I love road trips with my wife and kids. It is a real bonding moment for family.

Only thing that sucks is stopping at undesirable places. We had to stop at a gas station outside Alexandria one time and saw people smoking crack out in the open at only gas station. We had to make that stop due to a bathroom emergency. Next time popping a squat on side of road is in order. Never again…

The kids and I did an almost 4,000 mile RV trip a few years ago. It was fun.

I had a speaking engagement in Cheyenne, WY one time and made a road trip out of it. I picked up my best friend Dave in Dallas...headed Albuquerque for the night. Drove to Taos and went to the Pueblo and gorge bridge.

Next was Salida, CO...then Silverthorn for the night...1st time I ate a gummy. Then Cheyenne for a few nights then a night in Denver.

I once drove straight from Las Vegas to Baton Rouge.

I love driving.

Yep. This past November the wife and I drove the RV 1200 miles for 21 days in the Keys.

I would in a heart beat. My hubs hates road trips though so we don’t.

He likes to hurry up / fly and get there.

For him the destination is the prize, for me it’s the journey.

Me too. Which is why I love the job I have now. I drive all over the place. I get to try foods in all manner of little off the beaten path places.

Wife and I have done several over the years with and without kids. Drove to Phoenix to visit family with the kids about ten years ago. Made stops at the Alamo, Carlsbad Caverns , Phoenix, Puerto Penasco Mexico. Then tripped back through the Sonoma, the Grand Canyon and OKC. Spent a minimum of two nighs per stop . 3 in Puerto Penasco and The Canyon. Best family vacation we’ve had.

One of my favorite memories is a road trip vacation our family took 8 years ago.
