It really depends on her thoughts about the pre-nup. If she wanted one, I would dump her right there. If it was just her dad, I still wouldn't sign it, but I wouldn't break up with her.

he asks you directly. In front of the rest of the family at a bbq.

I'd tell him to eat a dick just on principle on not being a man and taking this conversation into a more private setting with me and his daughter.

He would only do that to pressure you into saying yes and make you look bad if you say no and that's a chickenshit move.

I’d ask her to sign a prenup that says her prenup is worthless.

shite like this is why I thank God every day for my wife’s family. All of our family goes on vacation together and are extremely close but we also dated for 4 years and got married after we already had established careers so money is not anything either of our families would ever argue over.

Best of luck sir

Yes

He needs to bring this up in private.

Then you deny his request and ask him what the frick he's gonna do now, his daughter is in love with you.

Five years later divorce and profit

If my fiancé allowed her dad to treat me like this and put me on the spot like this in a quasi-public setting with a loaded question that's extremely personal, that's a big arse red flag and could lead to a break up if it's not corrected.

If she asks, that's one thing. For the father to do it, especially in front of others, is a totally different thing, almost an insult.

Would you let your mother disrespect your fiancé/GF/wife in the same manner in a quasi-public setting with a similar loaded question?

There are some moments where you have to make it clear to your parents that you're not just their little kid anymore and actually a grown arse adult in a committed relationship and they need to respect that relationship.

I said "no problem" I was dreading asking my fiance to sign one anyway, since I was already part owner of a family owned chain which was worth double anything he had.
So we just did a bilateral agreement

Yes, I would be pissed because what he did is manipulative and disrespectful. If I were you, I'd probably have my own attorney draw up a prenup and break it out for signature at the next family gathering...maybe on the 4th of July? His a-hole will pucker up and he will have to make himself look like an arse by backing off his original request.

The income from the company and investments would be community without a declaration.
