we're talking about the parents of 25 year old. how old could these people possibly be that you think they have nothing left in their life to accomplish?

I'll be retired before my youngest is 30. Sorry your retirement plan sucks and you have to waste your entire life working.

Even if I retired tomorrow I still have things I want to accomplish in life besides being an unpaid daycare worker.

watching a grandchild is only a 2-3 year commitment these days. They start preschool after that. Spoiling the little shits and sending them home to be dealt with is one of the things I look forward to doing with my free time.

My MIL is retired and I still didn't ask her to watch my child.

She would have easily, but I think daycare is good for kids.

And the woman at the bank was the entitled, selfish one who didn't use sarcasm?

you think it would be selfish for a parent to say no to quitting their job to keep their grandkids?

Besides, I'm only 38, I was saying that regardless of retirement plans, I still have a lot of life to live in front of me. My mom is 58, but I hope she keeps living life on her terms as long as she can.

I would kill for my or my wifes parents to do this. Daycare for one kid is costing me 650 a month. We were wanting to start trying for another baby soon, but gosh damn.. That's almost my frickin mortgage in daycare costs.

Sounds like she'll be working more than before.

I would never ask my parents, or my in-laws, to stop working. I want them to have a funded retirement.

Now, when wife (no pics) was preggers with the first child, there was a brief moment where her parents considered retiring from their current jobs, moving out near us, and my FIL would find something to work on, and my MIL would watch the kid.

That was completely my MIL idea and never got too far into the discussion. Just didn't make any sense.

Where do you live that childcare for 1 kid is 650 a month and your mortgage is just above 650?

10 years ago, I was paying 840/month for a 1 year old. And this was at a nice place, but one of the cheaper places around.

My mother and my mother in law are both retired and live close by. Still pay for childcare because

1. They earned the right to enjoy their retirement
2. They would spoil the shite of them
3. They would think they know better then me how to raise a kid and not do it like I want them to

So I pay 1k a month for childcare. Worth it

Bro.. I was saying that we were wanting to have another kid soon, so 2 kids in daycare would be 1300 a month.

My parents wish they could retire to help raise Sun Jr.

Only a couple more years for them

I think if they want to, and its cool with you then that's different than expecting them to.
but I guess someone raised her to be that entitled in the first place, so maybe those chickens are just coming home to roost.
