Would you agree to take a polygraph?

Assuming you’re innocent, would you decline?
It seems that declining makes investigators convinced of your guilt, but if you pass they may simply say you beat it.
What do you forum lawyers say?
Ps: I haven’t been asked to take a polygraph.

I would make a horrible criminal. Even when innocent, I'm sure I would be sweating enough to fail the thing just thinking that the polygraph administer thought I was lying.

If I was innocent, absolutely. Not if guilty. I took one for an FBI interview once and did not do so well.

Everyone says that but I was always surprised that almost every criminal client I ever had talked to the police at arrest. The only ones that didn't, on the whole, were career criminal types.
As for a poly I would only take one in very specific circumstances, primarily if it was someone close missing and I felt they were so focused on me they were letting the trail go cold. It would be a calculated risk for someone that I would do anything for like my wife or child.

this is the correct answer, declining makes investigators convinced of your guilt, but if you pass they may simply say you beat it.
its a lose lose situation and the tester can tailor the questions to make you seem deceptive or lying by getting you emotions involved.
just like drug dogs "alerting", the person doing the testing can manipulate the results to indicate whatever they want them to.

Polygraphs are pseudoscience. Some states don't even allow them as admissible evidence.

No, and the public consensus on when police say, "they refused a polygraph" is a bullshite tactic to make someone look guilty.

The majority of states no longer allow them. Inadmissible bc they have almost no probative value due to the insanely high error rate, and the little value they do have is more than outweighed by the fact that juries still treat them as if they’re infallible

I don't think it can help you. There are only bad outcomes and a test that could easily give a false positive if I'm innocent. There is no upside. Also, there's this thing called the 5th amendment, so a denial to testify cannot be used against me.
