I believe what your saying. However, I can see the issue in how turning slaves into citizens with rights would still be a very bloody.
There likely would have been greater efforts in establishing Liberia as a viable alternative.
Fun fact: a lot of abolitionists took their stance because they didn't believe that whites and blacks could live together.

This is one thing I do know about the Civil War:
A bunch of white folks from the North did not fight, lose limbs, and die for a bunch of black folks to be free. They did not do it out of their hate for slavery and/or love for freed slaves.
I mean, I feel like even subgroups within the white population (german, irish, italian, "native americans") used to hate on each other quite a bit during those times.

Yes. It wasn't widely used and cheaper options would have arisen.

You have one group of people who had complete and total control of another group. Given our human nature, it's highly unlikely a peaceful transition to the abolishment of slavery would have occurred.
Whether slavery would have ceased being practical from an economic standpoint is, in my opinion, an ancillary issue hardly worth mentioning. The practice of slavery violates the spirit of what our country stands for. Its existence compromised the legitimacy of our future as a free nation, which was, and still is, the example of a free nation to the world. Slavery had to end.

Let's not start this myth, because the main issue was slavery. Their was some minor topics that we were fighting over, but make no mistake, slavery was the main issue.

It's pretty obvious but it doesn't detract from a potential discussion.

They wanted slavery because of the economics of cheap labor. Technological advances would have eliminated the need for it eventually
Yep the need for cheap labor was completely eliminated with the industrial revolution

Alot of people claim the war focused on state rights, however the founders of the Confederacy wanted slavery. Would it have ever ended if the South won.
It was about states rights which focused a lot on whether states should be allowed to allow slavery. Even if the South would have won, I would think at some point within 50 years after slavery would have ended.
You can't be a free country, but allow people to force other humans to live a certain way and provide free labor and not give them the same rights as everyone else has in the country. It was a practice of its time, but if you are a business owner and you are paying your employees while there is another type of business that is getting free labor, wouldn't that piss you off if you were a businessman who was paying his employees?

Chattel slavery would have been more expensive than simply paying wages in an industrial setting.

Only a wilfully ignorant idiot argues otherwise, tbh. That sentiment was expressly stated by the seceding states themselves on numerous occasions.

The north wanted it to end because of the economic advantages it gave the south. The north's conquest was not a humanitarian campaign.
The south wanted to keep it and stated so because it was the corner stone of the mostly agricultural driven south.

Technology and outside pressure from other nations would have ended it.

I've seen references to Jeff Davis having a plan to end slavery in the CSA, but have never read it myself.
On another note I feel that the war could have been avoided if there would have been a Compensated emancipation. This was done in other countries when they were ending slavery. Though it was wrong, slavery was part of the era, and slave owners had a lot of money invested in the slaves they owned. I think that could have been a better use of government's money than trying to set up a colony in Africa(Liberia) to send the freed slaves.

Exactly. Like I said, white people in the north were probably just as racist towards blacks as they were in the south. Whites did not fight a war and die to free slaves.

It may not have been a big deal to the North, but it most certainly was in the South.
In other words, if the US doesn't come after slavery, state rights don't come to a tipping point at that time in history, and states don't secede.
Edited for clarity.
