lol...Come to I-5 from Olympia to Everett, WA or 405 from Tukwila to Lynwood, WA anytime of the week and we'll talk.

The section between Slidell and Lake Charles is about as shitty of an interstate as it gets.
Outside LA the feeling of riding a bucking bronco on the interstate is almost unheard of.

Back in the 70's I55 through Jackson, MS was spectacularly buckled

frick the tunnel. I refuse to go through it. I've programmed myself to just automatically take that new bridge.

The tunnel would be fine if tourists wouldn’t shite their pants at the sight of it.

I think Beaumont, TX has an argument in this debate as well
God yes. That shite is downright dangerous. Lanes go all over the place, section transitions built like speed bumps, etc.

True, but we are talking about 2019 not 40-50 years ago.
Every state has a bad stretch here or there but not the overall shitiness of LA maintained highways.

I'm sure that it's better now but in the early - mid 70's, I-10 between San Antonio and El Paso was a long dreary drive with lots of nothing for long spaces.

Quit making excuses for texas. That's a pathetic excuse for a temp road

The tunnel is a non issue outside of the summer months. And even then it’s not that fricking bad. As long as there aren’t any wrecks it doesn’t take more than 10-15 minutes from the time you slow down to the time you get through.
I drive it everyday. frick the new bridge we don’t need it in its design with 6 dollar tolls. It won’t fix shite anyway. Traffic will still slow down where the bridge and tunnel traffic merge and again at the half way point. And guess what? It will still back up when there are wrecks.
This bridge project has little to do with traffic and a lot to do with someone getting rich.

The Mobile tunnel is not usually bad at all. I go thru there ~40 times a year and very rarely is there a backup. Y’all must go they there at the worst possible times.

That is starting to sound like NYC or San Fran or Causeway tolls.
In my opinion, Alabama could create a loop using the Africa town bridge for a tenth less than a new bridge.
The would just need to replace the intersections with controlled access ramps, and more people would take that than the tunnel.

Illinois, Indiana and Ohio have interstate toll roads that I have driven...
As do NJ, Pennsylvania, and a bridge somewhere close to DE

You don’t stop anymore. They take a picture of your plate and send you a bill.

It isn't so much the tunnel as it is the east end of it where it also meets traffic going through the old tunnel and the Mid Bay Bridge.

Question: Why is that tunnel so hated. I only have to go through it once or twice a year but it seems okay.
Does it get badly clogged with traffic?

Neither is close to how bad it is in Los Angeles. I-10 West, from I-110 to Exit 19C and I-10 east at I-5/ I-10 exit 135C to Santa Monica
This is the correct answer. By far the most miserable stretch of interstate that I've driven on.

It’s pretty bad in Kenner near the airport.
Right past the williams exit heading into NOLA is the absolute worst. 3 on-ramps in a 1/4 mile leads to massive frickery, and no matter what time of day, it's always congested.

All they would have to do is create a route like that for 18 wheelers. During peak travel times they have to go around the tunnels or they are fined heavily. They cause more slow downs than anything else. It can take them forever to accelerate out of the tunnel. Plus when they are involved in accidents it creates the giant clusterfricks.
