re: Worst decade for car models (looks)?

In the 80's, my great-uncle had a Chrysler LeBaron. To comply with gasoline mileage standards, the big 3 would put small engines into bigger cars. My great-uncle's LeBaron had a four banger and was dangerously under powered. I drove it one time - when I tried to pass someone going 55, I had to abort the pass because the car had almost no acceleration at that speed range.

What about the 10s?? Look at this POS
In all seriousness, I would love to own one though

The 1980's definitely creeped well into the 1990's for sure. My dad had a few Suburbans back in the day. The worst was this 1991 model:
It was equipped with the 6.2L diesel engine. A week after it was delivered to him brand new, we took it on a family road trip. We ended up with two entire loose leaf pages of problems written down from that trip for the dealer to address upon our return. Interior plastic parts didn't fit, the headliner was already coming off, rattles everywhere, etc... Two weeks later, the accelerator stuck wide open, almost killing all of us.
It is amazing that our domestic car companies allowed their products to plummet in quality to such a degree.

I grew up with import cars, specifically those 80s Mercedes.
That was simply an exceptional era of automotive design. I regret selling my old w124, best car I’ve ever owned. And easily the best built.
My personal favorite from that era is the 560SEC.
I also loved the later 500e they built with Porsche.

I'm pretty sure 60,000 miles was this max on this one.
That was a great car to the Brits.
Which convinced me that they wouldn't know a great car if it ran over them.

That car was the worst POS ever made. My brother had one.
battery blew up in it 3 days after buying it brand new. I can't tell you all the things that happened to that car. You wouldn't believe it was possible. I do have to say it handled pretty well when working. Was fun to drive on a road with lots of curves.

Late 70's to mid 80's. Even forty years old or more, the cars don't look like anything worth collecting, including the Mustangs.
Exceptions: Transams/firebirds/camaros, 280 and 300 ZX's, Supras, and some of the British or German cars.

90’s had the 2 door Tahoe and the best looking Silverado/Sierra IMO. The Wrangler was also introduced in the 90’s.
Don't forget about the rice rockets: Eclipse, 3000GT, Talon, and prelude

Late 80s early 90s were terrible. Trucks and SUVs were greet then. A 90s z71 2 door Tahoe was tGOAT
80s cars were ugly but they still had some decent land yacht types.
The 90s cars got small and cheap looking and were pieces of shite

When I was a young teen one of the first trucks I drove was a 1990 F250 single cab stick shift around the farm. Had a 460 gas burner in it with headers and cherry bomb glass packs. You could hear that loud mother fricker 2 miles away

Fishing Lake Fork many times around some of the roads, you heard that shite all day...

The American Ugly car Movement started in 1978.
The gasoline crisis and fuel mileage restrictions really killed what made American autos awesome.
The days of long sleek convertibles with 8.2 liter engines and sharp fast muscle cars ended there.
It has made a comeback though with the muscle cars and land yachts though the land yachts are now huge SUVs and not sedans

Crossovers are bad but many sedans and Trucks/SUVs today look good.
This is best looking truck Ford ever made

Porsche did make some great 80's iconic cars. Just certain cars I'm going to relate to movies.

80's without a doubt. I remember my Dad bought a brand new Olds Cutlass Supreme in 87 or 88 and the interior looked like the lining of a casket.
