THe lone standout of the 80’s as far as majors go. The car is my favorite of all time.

I objectively know that the 5.0 fox bodies (later versions) were not good looking cars, but I can’t not like them even today because they were the shite back when I was starting to drive. The early version that someone posted already is hideous
They were horrible, but they were not the worst Mustangs.
Like everything else in America, the Mustang sucked even worse under the Carter era:

The 1980s Mercedes SL and Jaguar V12 were exceptions. Those just do it for me. If I had the space in the garage, I’d have one now.
Beautiful, yet understated cars.
I love the W126 Mercedes sedan. Instead of trying to out-bling Cadillac like they do now, Mercedes was focused on building the best car money could buy. Nothing else said “I’m a powerful dictator” or “I’m a surgeon” like the Mercedes W126.

Those '85 / '86 Mustangs are actually pretty sought-after. I think you'd find at least 15 or 20% of people who restore or race Mustangs cite the '85 as the best-looking Mustang, if you took a survey. Could even be higher than that

The 90’s were pretty bad. The ford truck went from having that clean, square front to having an ugly, rounded look.
The change from the Ford OBS 92-96 to the horrendous 97 may be the worst in history. I can't think of a greater aesthetic decline.

Love looking at cars from 80s movies
Seems like this was a popular choice

We had two Toyota Cressidas, a 1981 sedan and a 1985 wagon. The '85 in particular looked good because Toyota was clearly copying the classic Mercedes look.

The Fiero was a popular "1980s movie" car because of its distinctive looks and mid-engine design, but it wasn't a huge seller in real life. It was too pricey for the target audience. Toyota tried this in the 1990s with the MR2, but it also was a marketplace failure.
As it turns out, most 16-25 year olds in the 1980s were poor.
Ferris Bueller's sister had a Fiero. Their parents were clearly well off though. And didn't care if their daughter got into an accident. They favored the son.

For sure.

Merkur XR4ti
I'm pretty sure 60,000 miles was this max on this one.

I knew someone from Johsons Bayou, of all places, who had a Fiero in university.

There really are some bad cars right now. Especially the SUV MKT.
Jeep Cherokee with the atrocious headlights
Another Blob

I seriously can't tell the difference between the Honda Pilot and the Honda minivan anymore.
They screwed that design up so badly.

What the frick is Lexus doing with these out of control grills. They have ruined the look of the LX and GX. They absolutely suck.
I think the designer must be a big Battlestar Gallactica fan....

It's an Audi Q7 except it has an uglier front end.
The interior is really nice though.

The grill looks tacked-on and cheap regardless of the application. It's ruined Lexus for me.

80s cars were generally unattractive and underpowered. The early electronics in some models means that no parts are available if you have an old one.
I have an 83 Buick Riviera convertible, which is a great riding car but is plagued with plastic trim components (like the transmission for the front power seat) that become brittle with age. It also has early electronics, though amazingly the digital controls for the A.C. still work.
