Mine was a rockstar on the fast track. But also an arrogant, belittling, prick. I actively avoided him. Once he got promoted and moved up a few of his new underlings told me unsolicited that they couldn't stand him for the same reasons. Eventually he was up for a bigger promotion and got a lateral move instead. Maybe management figured out he was toxic. I believe he is still making employees lives miserable in the company today. I've since moved on.

The one woman boss I had was the absolute worst. She was the most manipulative, back stabbing count I even met. It was a temporary situation, but she was a miserable person.

Long story short, I was switching jobs. The job I was going to had a huge project coming up and I was hired to be on the project, but there was about 10 months between when I started and the project started.

I was informed about it and told that there was a department in the Houston office that was branching into the BR office and asked if I would be okay working in there because it was only going to be one person from Houston moving to BR at first. And there were other people who needed things done so there were more than enough hours on different projects I can bill to.

When I started I was helping people out on different projects. About a month later the department that was branching in the BR office moved their one person. The manager wanted to talk to me. Out of all the departments she was the only female department head so I don't know if she felt the need to let the male department heads know that they can't push her around or what, but it was safe to say, at least as for as her job was concerned, she hated men.

I don't think I ever met someone who truly hated the opposite sex until I met her. She pretty much started a war with the managers in the BR office. Then about two months before the project I was hired to be on started she tried to fire me, which I knew she couldn't do, but she had it out with the manager who would be over that project and after I pretty much told the president at the west Virginia office to go frick himself (who she was close to) she was trying to kill two birds with one stone by firing me. It ended up blowing up in her face.

But this count's department was losing jobs and was worried her budget would get cut so she hired 2 new people to give the impression they were about to be busy. She convinced a woman who had been at her job for 24 years to come work for her and 3 months later she had to let her go. That's the type of person she was and I can't image ever having to work under someone like her again.

I was just thinking of three 10th Mountain Division Commanders; Hagenbeck, Austin, and Freakley.

Work in I.T. and worked at a company for about 5 years. The last 2 were pure hell. Brought in a I.T. Director that no one liked so eventually he started bringing in people that worked for him at his last job. Most of them were not even tech savvy but he claimed they were web developers, programmers etc.. After about a month a few were pulled from developers/programmers and made Project managers, Manager of the web development team so that he could cover their deficiencies. So they got more money and basically were now in charge of the teams. All of them would go running and tell if anyone was talking about the director behind his back. Everyone eventually quit because of him and his hired managers. They lost about 15 people in a 2 year time frame including myself. Found out recently he was fired and the group he hired let go as well.

Still have nightmares even after 10 plus years away from that job because of the stress this man and his minions put on us. Currently have worked for the best Director and Manager i have had in all my years working . Going on 10 years and hopefully can make it another 20. Guess i had to work for the worst Director ever to really appreciate the One i ended up with

The first boss I had at my current company years ago was awesome and the standard by which I measure subsequent managers.

My current manager has been the worst. He has the team work on various things and then presents the docs and ideas as his own while not allowing team members to be part of those discussions. He has favorites who are not good workers but masterful suck-ups and refuses to criticize them or hold them accountable.

We recently did employee surveys and I guess people really let him and his boss have it. He called a meeting and said how the responses were humiliating for them and that we should go to them if we have a complaint. Yeah, right.

Ironically, we seem to work harder now because we realize that’s the best way to get him promoted and out of the team.

My boss denied me a request to sit with my 32 year old wife while she got a round of chemo. She had been diagnosed with cancer a couple weeks before and this a-hole said I can’t sit with her. Also told me to bring my laptop to my grandmothers funeral in case anything came up. I’m in corporate finance. There is nothing that can’t wait a few hours.

David Short from Denver. If I ever see him again I’ll rip his arms off and beat him to death with the bloody stumps. When he was so hard to deal with, I took all his emails to a psychiatrist and paid the guy for his opinion. Came back and said it’s personal and he hated me but couldn’t pinpoint why. I enjoyed f’n with him after that.

I’ve never had a micromanaging boss or anyone that stepped on me; those types would never hire anyone like me because I’ve never misrepresented myself in the interview process. And further, I’ve been able to sniff out those types in that same process and would never work for them.

My worst boss was my best. Hardcore alcoholic who left me alone; I would go months without talking to him, which was great, but In the rare event you needed him to take action, he was lit up like an Irishman by 2pm daily. Guy knew how to hire and made a lot of money.

Captain in the Navy while on a staff tour. I knew him in the fleet when I was a FNG and he was a Lt Cmdr. He was okay at his job but you could tell he wanted to climb the ladder. Fast forward 8 years and he is my boss in a staff job(which suck already) but he made it 10x worse.

I've had micromanagers and mentally fricked people over me, but don't reckon I've ever had a bad true boss. But I've had an evil coworker that thought she was boss. I thought about killing her everyday at one point. Literally killing her.

A 25 year old 1st Lieutenant during my last year in the Air Force. He thought he was God's gift to women. We both frequented the same nightclub in Fort Collins and he was trying to spit game to a CSU student and she ended up going home with me. Dude made my life a living hell after that.

He's a FBI agent now so I should probably shut up.
