As has been said repeatedly, they weren't eliminated "by winning"; they were eliminated in spite of winning. Of all the complaints someone can have about tournament soccer, I think this might be the least logical

The first stage is group play based on points for wins/losses/ties. It’s not win or go home. That’s the next stage.

Think of it as a round robin tournament before getting into a single elimination tournament.

They weren’t eliminated BY winning, dumbass lol. They have 3 games in the group stages. 3 points if win, 1 if draw, 0 if they lose. They had 4 points and got beat out by Spain due to the tiebreaker.

World Cup group stage is just like baseball or basketball playoffs. You can win an individual game but still not advance if you don’t win your series(group)
