Adding to that list of tips is TikTok user @oceantherapii. In a video with over 131,000 views, @oceantherapii says that if anyone says they’re having technical issues with software like Microsoft Teams, it gives you the perfect opportunity to say you’re having issues as well—buying yourself a short break or helping out a co-worker in need.

No on on her team cares if she's on the call anyhow. She was a DEI hire and was never expected to contribute anything material to the project.

I’m stating the obvious, but this is extremely dumb. IT can see pretty easily if there’s actually a problem.
How often does this happen that she’s even bringing it up as a “hack”? I’m fully remote & I’ve never had anyone ask me if Teams is down (nor has it ever been down).

Number of State and Federal jobs with work at home POS is out of control.
Haven’t brought them back bc managers don’t want to come back.

shite like that stupid bitch is gonna cost those of us with WFH jobs our ability to do so, and will have to drive to the office - its 45 mins 1 way for the wife and I to go to the office (for her, it is a 10 hour shift with a 4 hour break in the middle).
irresponsible fricking morons should not frick it up for the responsible people.

Our IT Department always knows when there's a problem. If this is her strategy all the time, get rid of her. She's worthless.

In what way? We use it company wide globally and it’s fantastic. Minimal issues, no down time, quality calls and video meetings/recordings…
I’ve previous experience with Slack that was worse in most ways.

Agree, we worked from home for 13 months, our production was through the roof. But, we had 4 shite heads out of 40ish in our group that weren't performing or just not working when they were supposed to be working. Although they did their work, they weren't available during a time when everyone else was working to answer questions. Instead of making them 4 do what they hell they were supposed to be, they made us all come back to the office.

Teams is pretty vital in our communication these days. I don't think.it has ever gone down for me

Teams’ help docs demonstrate how easy it is for a manager to access a direct report’s chats. I suspect my manager does this based on a couple of instances I have seen but I use it to my advantage by sending over-the-top, gung ho messages about how late I worked last night or on the weekend but it was really worth it! etc. to close team members.

...they just get in the way, and it's easier to let them "work from home" than to fire them.

Did not know she could work the drive thru window from home. Modern tech is amazing

I have had to send the occasional "Sorry, give me 5 minutes. I haven't used Teams in a while and its pushing through an update" Then when I am on, I always have to acknowledge it's my fault for waiting until the last minute before firing it up.
Of course, I probably use video calls less than 5-10 times a year

when asked if Microsoft Teams is down
I deal with five of these cases a week..
Manager reaches out for logs to verify what user is saying, and we disprove users issues..
HR gets involved, person is no longer employed
You could show up to work high, drunk, etc, and they will get you help and probably promote you to some global management position..
but don't lie about work, they will shut you down

You're lucky, a certain group of people that I work with love to use video calls to discuss issues rather than hashing it over text. I would rather use chat to discuss the issue as I usually have several irons in the fire at any given time and they can be incredibly hard to understand over a video call.
