I’m paid very well and my gas is covered. Being in Houston a longer commute is not uncommon.

4 10s

The closest I had to anything like that was the 4 9s/ 1 8 schedule while working at home.

Depends on your life. 4-10s would be rough for me with my kids having after school activities every day.

I used to do 4 10s before kids but I can barely do school drop off and afternoon practices now. I couldn't imagine trying to good back to an extra 2 hours, unless the kids are older.

4x10's is the ultimate.

5x8's always turns into 5x10's anyway. Give me the day off, and preferably make it Monday.

I'm on 4 10s. 7-5:30. Home around 6. Makes for some long days at the office sometimes but having that open weekday and a 3 day weekend is great. Schedule any doctor's appointments or run errands on Fridays.

I like the ideas of 4-10s, but only if you have a lot of family flexibility AND can start your workday early in the morning, like 6 am. Its hard to find while collar jobs that actually have a 4-10s schedule that works, 9-80s are much better.

Also, 4-10s can be a scam, there are several cities in Louisiana that have 4-10s City Hall office hours, that is BS. You have a bunch of office workers maybe showing up at 7 am who sit around and do no work till 8:30 or 9, and if you need to pull a permit for a project on a Thursday afternoon or Friday morning you won't get your permit till Monday.

I’ve worked 5 8s (plus) for the last 40+ years, 4 10s is my dream. I’d have to modify my workout schedule, but that’d be a small price to pay.

4 10s was fun when I had it. Not an option nowadays where I am.

I'd do it now, but it would have inconvenient with young kids.

I work with some people that do 4 9s and a 4. I think I'd enjoy that.

I worked five 8’s for years, now working four 10’s. Hope I never go back to five 8’s.

Math not mathing on this one Clark...

3-12s was somewhat common in the building trades back in the late 80s and early 90s. When a job was working 24-7 they would have 2 shifts working 4 -12s M-Thursday and 2 shifts working 3-12s F-Sun. The 4-12 shift would make 32 hours of straight time and 16 hours of time and a half for a total of 56 hours. The 3-12 crews made 8 hours of straight time, 16 hours of time and a half and 12 hours of double time for a total of 56 hours. Needless to say tramps usually worked the 4 day shift and local hands got the 3 day shift. Same amount of hours paid but there was an actual difference of 12 hours for most tramps. Add a shift differential for working nights and actually only working 12 hours with a half hour meal instead of 12.5 hours and the 3-12 night shift was the best deal going....

Most of the people I know that work 4 10s are realistically closer to 4 8.5s. so if you have that level of flexibility it's a no brainer.

However, I can't imagine this:

Being home early every day is nice but can’t really do anything once home at 2-3pm

I can think of all kinds of shite I can do with that time, what the hell is wrong with you?
