She sounds like a control freak. Best to get out before you’re locked in.

It’s amazing how everyone here does the bare minimum. No wonder bottom barrel fishes here
No one said to do the bare minimum
There’s a difference in no effort & turning over planning of an engagement to the chick so she can make a huge production over it

She may be wanting to wait for the embryo DNA test results. Be patient.

Still better than being alone with no prospects like yourself

Wrong again. My kid just got an award at school today, and I was there with my (first and only) wife to watch it.
A&M stacking Ls this fall.

So you have to stare at your fat ugly wife because you decided a career paying 50k was enough cool. Some people are ok with mediocre lives

Don’t let her do this, for real. You ask her when you damn well feel like it. If she wants to plan a photoshoot to celebrate it with nice pictures for the social media announcement, y’all do that. But, when and how you ask her is up to you and you alone. If she says no because she didn’t like how you didn’t ask exactly how she imagined with her stuffed animals when she was 8, then she doesn’t love you, just the idea of getting married.
A lot of women NEED a wedding, want a marriage, but don’t really love the man they’re with, so they try to rush straight to the trappings of a successful relationship without building one and truly falling in love first. This is the reddest of flags. Women like this will dump you and divorce you at the first sign of inconvenience in your marriage assuming they’re not the first in their friend group to do so.

She’s been asking for a few months. We’re older (31) and her friends are married so she is heavy fomo

I just find it weird that people are willing to do so much for social media as opposed to living in the moment with their new fiance
It always comes across that it’s more important to share it with the internet.
I got lucky in that my wife cares more about our dogs’ social media is more up to date than hers
Certain things I understand. Wanting a blowout wedding for family/friends (within reason). Input on a ring that she'll wear forever, theoretically (particularly if ya'll have the money).
But making a proposal about impressing third parties, and probably ones she doesn't even keep up with...less than ideal.

You’re looking at this from a man’s pov. For women it’s much different

She wants to plan the engagement? What does that even mean?

Just so I have you straight, you are bragging about not being good enough for your gf's dad?
Congrats?

She wants to plan it for a social media post you think?
Posted on 10/26/22 at 1:30 pm to fareplay
Stupid, frick no. That’s your only job…let her plan fricking wedding.
Posted on 10/26/22 at 1:32 pm to fareplay
Agree to let her plan it. Let her set it all up: the photographer, the location, the clothes. Then when it comes time for you to get down on one knee, break up with her. Just make sure to capture that moment and savor it for as long as you live. Every time you look at it think to yourself...."This is the day you will always remember as the day you almost married a psychopath"
