From the video I saw last night the restroom was clear when he went in. The issue the guy that called the police had was it kept his wife and her mother from going in for a couple of minutes. The video showed the female manager of the store holding the door open and she apologized to the father once the man that called the police left.
While I do understand the urinal code, there is a non-zero chance that girls who have eyes at an adult genital level will see a penis or butt. Plus, they certainly could see a man openly urinating. To put that in perspective, even if no one saw the genitals it would be illegal in public.
I think that veifying the restroom was empty and taking the girls in was the right call. Never having had girls, I don't know what I would have done.

I went into a men’s gas station once and a dad was in there with his daughter. I respectfully turned around and walked out, and waited for them to exit.
He gave me the appreciation nod when exiting.

The old man was in the restroom staring down two little girls while they did their bathroom business, and even made them cry. I may have let the cops know they felt threatened with a creepy old man watching them while yelling threats at their dad. He may need to go on a registry if those are my girls.

When my daughters were this age, i would have been able to listen to a comment or two as i tried to get going but as this frick face wanted to do, I’m gonna give him a reason to call police.
As a father of 2 daughters, there were lots of times, i didn’t have a choice for this situation.
I have so much disdain for people that run their mouth and what’s worse is older MF’rs that wanna run their mouth.

This is what the women of twitter are missing. 99% of men would be super respectful and accomodating if they knew a dad was in there with his daughters.

Did this at the Church bathroom before mass. Felt bad because of the line of old ladies outside the door but they all laughed when I came out

I had two young daughters and I took them into the women's restroom. I didn't want to take them into the men's on the outside chance that they would see a man using a urinal and opening that can of worms with a curious 3 and 5 year old. Nothing this dad did was wrong and the old man needs his arse whooped

Also, 99% of us would be ready to step in and help beat that bald guy's arse for being such an a-hole. The dad was clearly doing the right thing for his daughters and this a-hole comes along and makes an issue out of it.
If I had daughters, I'd take them to the women's restroom as well. As a guy, you knock, announce your presence and make sure there aren't any woman in there. If there are, you wait courteously until theyre done. If there aren't, you proceed. If a woman comes in, you can acknowledge, explain, apologize for the inconvenience, and I'm sure all women would understand and be glad to see a dad doing dad stuff anyway.
