Woman who called cops on black man in NY park charged

“Today our office initiated a prosecution of Amy Cooper for falsely reporting an incident in the third degree,” Cyrus R. Vance Jr., the district attorney, said. “We are strongly committed to holding perpetrators of this conduct accountable.”
Ms. Cooper, who was issued a desk appearance ticket on Monday, is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 14. If convicted, she could receive a conditional discharge or be sentenced to community service or counseling rather than jail time.

Meanwhile, the district attorney stated, "those that have vandalized Madison Ave and terrorized local tenants are exercising their rights to peaceful protest."

Why do you feel like you’re taking crazy pills? Shouldn’t people like this be charged so to hopefully discourage people from doing this? So Police can actually, you know, try to help with murders and shite instead of false reports?

Don't we encourage women to call the police when they feel unsafe? Seems like when I was in college that was the message.
