you don’t think there are abused 5-10 year olds with sexual things on their mind?

My opinion is the bill intentionally vague to cause confusion and silence gay teachers over the fear of being sued and/or fired for merely mentioning their sexual orientation.

So the outcome of the bill is it will disproportionately impact the gay community because it was designed to do just that.
I agree. It's a brilliant piece of legislation and more states should write their own.

I live an hour from Disney. We went this weekend and it was packed as usual. Not sure what hill you think they're dying on. They just aren't bothered by the existence of gay people . DeSantis is a blowhard just like Trump. Focus hard on hot button issues that really don't matter, turn people against other people even though its of no consequence to themselves. Nothing to see there, just low-IQ shitty humans.

So you are admitting you did not read the bill. Always good to speak and remove all doubt that you are an idiot.

Florida: Don't teach sex to kindergarteners without contacting parents first.

Roaad: I mean that just seems unnecessary. . .

CNN: We need to teach sex to kindergarteners without telling parents

Hollywood: We need to teach sex to kindergarteners without telling parents

Democrats: If we can't teach kindergarteners about gay sex without notifying parents, it means you hate teh gayz.

Disney: If you are against kids being taught about all LGBT sex acts, without parental notification, you are evil.

Roaad: But. . .

Roaad: Apparently we DO need this law, because there are way more ghey groomers with unfettered access to very young kids than I thought.

Schools have supposed professionals on staff to handle these kinds of things.

And this bill gives the option to take that away……That’s my point

quote:

Parents would have the right to opt their children out of counseling and health services. Lines 106-109; 114-118: At the beginning of the school year, each school district shall notify parents of each healthcare service offered at their student’s school and the option to withhold consent or decline any specific service. … Before administering a student well-being questionnaire or health screening form to a student in kindergarten through grade 3, the school district must provide the questionnaire or health screening form to the parent and obtain the permission of the parent.

Now do you agree with that?

Abuse is completely different than what this bill is addressing. If the kid brings this up to a teacher, the teacher needs to get them to the school counselor and if the kid is talking about abuse, to the authorities.

Schools can still refer cases to authorities when abuse is suspected.

And with the bill parents can opt their kids out of the counseling and health screening….It’s a good bill in premise, but they left openings like this that were unnecessary

The school can still notify child protection, if abuse is suspected.

This bill doesn't change that

You’re plucking out a scenario that’s very, very rare. An abusive parent of that nature (who isn’t simply negligent on top of their other abuses), is not completely free to do what they want because of this bill. A parent at that level would and could have CPS called on them and the school could do that based on any number of factors regardless of the kid being allowed to talk about sex and gender.

Abuse at this level usually isn’t spotted by your normal kindergarten teacher. That’s kinda the point. Usually the professionals y’all are so high on have to evaluate to figure out their is abuse going on.

If abuse is suspected, nothing changes. You refer to proper authorities.

Schools are not the proper authority.

What do you mean by “screening?” You don’t think teachers can address parental abuse when they suspect it?

I think Title IX clearly spelled that out. Let police execute criminal investigations, particularly of the sexual nature.

you are trained in this from college, as a teacher.

Most all teachers can spot abused kids, and even differentiate between abused and neglect.

Usually abuse is notified through the guidance counselor, and now parents can opt out and their child will be prevented from going to the guidance counselor

Then why the massive pushback against it?
