Will Smith was the wholesome all-american who reached the highest levels of success, popularity, and stardom. I think that's why it caused such a reaction.

No I think there are celebrities who've done much worse who have been forgiven. Whether it's under aged girls (rob lowe, tyson), or killed someone negligently in a car (broderick), etc.
I don't the impulses in the moment should necessarily define someone.
I wouldn't know anything about People or Natl Inq but clearly you have some experience.
