It's not just 2nd home purhcases anymore people are moving there everyday. People are done paying the crazy homeowners insurance in LA.

And what schools are all these people sending their kids to?

What jobs are they working at?

Who’s buying their houses in New Orleans and who’s selling houses on the Gulf Coast if it’s so desirable and where are those people moving?

I don’t think so. It’s been good to me as far as making a living but I think it’s on its way to being a total and complete shithole. I’ve already been laying groundwork to make sure my kids don’t grow roots here. They’re all going to be seeking college educations out of state. And when the last one is out of the house, we will be rolling out as well.

all seem to be oblivious to the serious problems that have been plaguing the state for the past 20 years. No one seems to be serious about fixing anything, they just want to pretend that none of these problems exist.

JBE has set us way back. All our neighbors with Repub governors are knocking it out of the park.

This is part of the problem. People are too quick to blame a party. Jindal is a republican and set this state back 30 years.

Fat, poor and stupid. Almost the entire population of the state fall under at least 2 out of those 3 categories.

But I can tell you from experience that you will miss the food if you move out of the south.

Leaving the state and trying food elsewhere made me realize how much the actual appeal of so many Louisiana restaurants was due to nostalgia.

I never knew there were varieties of oysters other than gulf oysters until I left the state.

All of the best crabcakes I ever had were found in Maryland/DC.

The best bbq can be found in Texas.

So many other examples.

The biggest takeaway from leaving the state was that once i learned to cook, there aren’t many La dishes that I can’t cook better myself.

But gulf oysters are still the best.

And because we don’t live in a shite country you can get oysters from any coast on any coast. Yeah we contribute to climate change, but I’d rather have a way to transport seafood cold.

Replace the population of a few cities and I have a feeling Louisiana could turn it around for the better.
