I wouldn't be surprised if he never faces trial. Who is the witness - his daughter? If she decides not to testify, what do they have?

This Son of a Gunman would say it sounds like he got what he deserves.

With all the money he had to have made over the years, why was he going with the public defender?

I don't know what that means. But don't be naïve. Many many sexual assaults go unprosecuted when there's no contemporaneous physical evidence because the victim is paid off. I don't blame the victims- they likely need that money to get the care they need to overcome what happened to them.
In this case the victim is her father, that requires the affirmative decision to put your father in jail and to go through a round or two of excruciating cross examination.
prosecution depends on the willingness of the victim.
Same situation happens in other realms where the victims are too afraid to testify and for good reason.

Um, you need to go back a page and read the update from the bump.
He was found guilty of two counts of aggravated rape & one count of forcible rape yesterday, and neither of the victims in THIS case was his daughter. LINK
Mandatory life sentence.
ETA: I stand corrected, confused with Stephanie Haydel's accusations which are still awaiting trial in Livingston Parish.

The 15 year old girl was his daughter.

Think about all the other harrowing stuff that comes with sexual molestation. The intimidation, the fear, the mistrust, the undermining of familial roles, the future of the family, the way it casts children adrift in the world, etc. The actual act may in fact be among the least damaging factors as bad as that sounds. Prayers for any children who have had to deal with a trusted adult crossing that line. When Will Hayden dies in a cell in Angola at some point in the future, I will toast the victims and prosecutors with a glass of affordable Irish whisky.

This guy used to run a shooting range on Choctaw right?

Not the shooting range on Choctaw, but the custom gun store on Mammoth Drive, right off of Monterrey.

Stalling child abuse cases, especially ones involving sexual abuse, is a favorite tactic of defense lawyers. They hope the child and their family get tired of the process and just drop it. We are involved in one case that's been waiting to go to trial for five years, and another that's going on three years now. Really disgusts me with how our criminal justice system works.

Just out of curiosity, was he in the Marines? I used to watch the show and think I heard a reference to him being in the USMC.
