i mean what the hell is BR gonna do when they cant get any good candidates for police departments? Are they gonna scrape the bottom of the barrel and let guys in with questionable character

I can't tell you whether they will or they won't, but they're sure giving it their damnedest.

That police pay raise will certainly help, but I'd go work in Livingston or Ascension before dealing with BR's bullshite. That's assuming they don't steal the money allocated for raises should it pass.

Baton Rouge has more "non-mobile" industries than Jackson does. For that reason, there will always be at least some tax base for the city. Exxon isn't going anywhere. LSU isn't going anywhere. For that reason, Baton Rouge has a higher floor than Jackson.
Things can certainly decline steeply with incompetent, corrupt leadership, but Baton Rouge has a lot going for it that can prevent the kinds of "failed state-esque economic collapse" of Jackson.

BR has LSU, some plants, and Reggie’s. It’ll always be just a little better than Jackson.

At the end of the day if the police union does not like the guy there will be enough friction that he will be gone.
I feel bad for the BRPD officer and if I was an officer with enough time to retire I would be planning my exit.

Get out while you can still get something for your home.

Baton Rouge is fine and will continue to be fine.
For a bunch of people who pose as tough guys, you boys sure are afraid of the culcha. Enjoy that great life that Denham Springs and Gonzales are offering though

I mean when you look at the current all star lineup of leadership there, I dont see how they cant.
Worse? No.
On par with? Probably so.

Jackson folks had Madison to run to, while BR folks have Ascension and Livingston. Those are just as poorly run as EBR.

It’s all the same. It’s part of the metro area. It’s not like you’re speaking of some cities hours away.

Just because places are in the same Metro area does not make them equal. If you live in Jersey City you have a vastly different life than someone who lives in Manhattan.

New Orleans says y’all hold my beer and whatchis.

Maybe if the good folks don’t freak out and keep leaving the city will be fine.
