Well, we all want to know, did you pay it?

I don't think a credit score over 700 is that hard to achieve. Credit Karma claims mine hovers around 770. My one bad mark is that my credit age isn't very high. I also don't have a mortgage which supposedly would improve my score. I would think one oops wouldn't knock me below 700. Then again I've never actually seen these formulas they use.

If it's under $100 then it won't show up on your credit report. It can still lower your score though.

Low 700s is nothing at all to brag about it, it's super easy to achieve

These two statements are contradictory

I wasn't bragging, just stating a fact.
And that fact is that no one with a 700 + credit score is going to "Forget" to pay a fricking $70 hospital bill to the point that it ends up in collections.

not that hard to look it up. They deal with that everyday, not me. They have all that info readily available to them.

There's tens of thousands of different plans,
No there isn't. There's a handful that are going to cover basically the same thing. They know when something is very likely to cost extra no matter what plan you have.
My whole problem is that they just assume you'll do it, regardless if it will cost or not, as if it's no big deal. All i'm saying is, tell the patient if this is something that usually cost extra or not. It's the not caring that it might cost extra that irritates me, yet they are always trying to push it on you as if it's free.

they don't know your co-pays
you serious clark? yes they do. you pay it before you see the doctor.

or the status of your deductible
again, yes they do. We've done at least 8 tubes through the ENT, and at the appointment where we decide it's time to do it again and we schedule the surgery, they will always bring us to the billing lady and she will tell us wha'ts left on the deductable and how much this is going to cost us. That meeting takes about 3 minutes, and she'll make calls if necessary to find out the costs of other procedures being done since anytime my kid goes under we generally call all the doctors to figure out if there's any other procedures we should do while he's under. She knows how to do her job, and she does it well, and even then, we still get errors on our bill, but she does a good job of correcting them and they usually are not her fault.

I did finances for a motorcycle dealer for two years. Most people have medical bills and they didn’t effect us with banks at all. Just DONT LET THEM GO TO COLLECTIONS frick TARD

Billing mistakes are made all the time, and most people just pay them without question.
I had a doctor try to bill for labor and delivery of my daughter, outside of our labor and delivery we already paid for. over $11k. He stood in the doorway for 30 seconds and said, "I am here if you need me" as my daughter was coming out.
I got the bill and told them, no way. It took about 6 months for them to stop and realize the mistake. it also went to collections, but was never on any credit report and have never had any issues

Right so they contact the insurance company, bill then, and get your portion before you come back. That can't be done instantly.
You have no clue what you are talking about so I would just quit now.
You are saying "I've been to the doctor so I know exactly how all the billing and reimbursements work"
That is asinine.
Posted on 11/13/18 at 3:29 pm to dfintlyHmmrd
Right. When I first got credit at all when I was in college I started off at like 680, even without any history.
Posted on 11/13/18 at 3:34 pm to HeyHeyHogsAllTheWay
shite happens. Clerks at the doctor's office take down addresses wrong. Mailmen misdeliver mail. You think it's junk mail, and you throw it out without looking at it. Whatever. It's not like it takes a particularly diligent person or clean record to maintain over 700.

No they don't.
They do, they just don't want to. And maybe it's not efficient for them to do that upfront for everyone, and only do it when needed.

I don't know what to tell you doc or murse.
This is what happens every single time we've done this. She gets that done while i'm sitting in the office with her scheduling the surgery. It takes under 5 minutes, and she will tell us how much is left under the deductible and how much this is going to cost. She didn't do any of this before we walked in since she finds out about the procedure about 10 seconds before we walk in.

and i'm assuming you are saying how your clinic does it and that there is no way for anyone else to do it.
I don't know how it all works everywhere, but that's how it works at that place. What i do know is that it's crazy to recommend services to someone without the slightest hint if it will cost them money or not. I'm not saying every place does this. Obviously some places are much better than others.
In my two examples, one pushes crutches on me without ever talking about it costing anything, then sends me a bill. The other tells me this boot will cost this much, but you can get it cheaper at this place. See the difference?

Sometimes the
collection agencies are actually internal, so they may not have sent it to an outside collection agency yet.

I'm not in the medical field.

That is correct. They will send your arse to collections and it will indeed hurt your credit score. If you can't pay it all up front call those bitches and set up a payment plan.. $25 bones, $50 bones.. whatever you can afford. And F*ck em!
Posted on 11/13/18 at 5:46 pm to cajunlsu
Wow OP if you’d have just paid the $70 at the time of service, none of this shite would matter
Posted on 11/13/18 at 5:47 pm to TigersHuskers
They will let you pay before your credit takes a hit.

I'd forgotten about this part. According to LINK it seems that it will show up on the report, but whether it affects the score or not varies. Supposedly lenders such as auto loans and such don't care, but mortgage lenders might.
At any rate, if OP can work a pay for delete it's well worth the $70. The collector will likely be delighted to get a quick $70 they otherwise would have no hope of getting.
