What was the cause of these fires?
I haven't seen an official cause for the main fire yet. Lightning set off some of the random ones in the general area, and there's the chance that legit arson has played a roll in some of it with reports of shite fricks riding around throwing burning paper out of car windows and such.

Ft Johnson/Rosepine was someone burning trash
Tiger island I believe was an atv muffler

The dipshit that started the rosepine fire is in jail. Luckily the rain yesterday mostly put it out. All the evacuation orders for that fire have been lifted.

They are getting a good run at it right now and hopefully get it contained before they humidity drops this afternoon
The winds have been making all these fires hard to contain. Highly variable

Roster from Vernon Parish jail. Mr. Paul Nash is in jail for starting the fire that ignited when he violated the Burn Ban by burning his trash. This is the fire that threatened La Hwy 10 near South Fort Polk.
All persons on the roster are merely suspects and have not been convicted of any crime beyond a reasonable doubt.

Third afternoon in a row that it looks like a normal Summer afternoon on radar.

Just don't be a shitty person. Paul Nash couldn't grasp that concept.
Interesting that they can charge him with arson, hopely those charges stick. The laws in some states are written where they lean heavily on intent which lets general dumbasses who are woefully negligent off the hook.

I've searched and haven't seen anything other than
What you've posted.
It's hard to imagine athletic fields and golf courses would have to halt mowing.

There's nothing explicit banning mowing, but there was a post from both the Governor's office and Fire Marshall discouraging mowing.

KPLC is reporting a fire in Vinton near Nibletts Bluff Park that’s between Vinton and Starks close to the state line
Posted on 8/26/23 at 5:55 pm to SWLA92
Also a Fire between Leesville and Anacoco
Posted on 8/26/23 at 6:04 pm to SWLA92
Gotta think the lightning popping off every day lately is causing some of these.
