Most of what I've read indicates that while the miscalculation is very real, religious neutrality is most often attributed to the shift.

Well yeah, Christians aren’t the only people who use Wikipedia

Yes, and if you asked 100 people what AD and BC stand for, you might get 5 correct answers. Like most political correctness, assuaging the feelings of a small minority due to feelings of insecurity to "stick it to the man."

It’s only a small minority if you live in the Western world. But with the entire world using the same Calendar it makes a bit of sense to use secular benchmarking.

I donated a few times through the years but the final straw was when they were literally begging again the day after I sent them something.

Told myself then and there - don’t be a sucker.

If the calendar timeline was religious in nature to begin with, either stick with the original nomenclature or reset the timeline for a calendar entirely. It's politically correct and unnecessary window dressing to edit to secular terminology a completely Christian calendar. I mean, while the dates were skewed, it was based on Christ's birth for the love of God.

Wikipedia is awesome, and isn’t whored itself out to datamine and maximize profits. Soliciting readers seems fair.

About the only two things the internet has given the world I actually like are google maps and Wikipedia. Otherwise I’d happily opt to put that genie back in the bottle and go back to the world of 1992 technology.

Meanwhile they allow the mass conversion by “editors” of all BC and AD years to BCE and CE. Atheist pricks.

Come on, man. You know damn good and well the reason academia switched away from BC/AD was bc it’s too western/Christian.

How silly is it that a calendar set up to accurately determine Easter completely left out the year Jesus was born?

For the love of God, please don't tell them how the books in the Bible were chosen. Might be mass suicides.

In the alternate universe where the Crusades didn’t work so well and the Ottomans gained a lot more power, would you really be ok with the division of years between modern and pre-modern times being labeled “Before Muhammad” and “After Muhammad?” Especially after 9/11?

I'd be a lot more OK with it than some politically correct edited bullshite that does nothing but placate the "masses" and changes absolutely nothing regarding the substance and nature of the calendar itself. "Hey, the calendar is based entirely on the birth of Muhammad, but we changed the wording of the timeline so it's all good now."

Sheep: "You know something, you're absolutely right. Totally different now."

frick em

Over the past several years Wiki has worked on becoming a much more reliable source.

Its a great tool to get a general understanding of pretty much anything. And I respect the fact that they haven't sold out. With as much traffic as they get, they could generate a lot more money. Its actually worth billions. It doesn't generate billions, but if they wanted they could easily start generating a lot of money.

Would you rather it become a corporation in which the first priority will become its share holders? You are dumb.

FYI: As much as I use it I have never given them money. I feel like there are a lot of suckers out there who gives them money to keep them going.

Jimmy Wales, from day one, has done nothing but begged for money and sat back and laughed at the Sap's and Rube's that laid money at his feet for open source leftist drivel.

I’ve found them to be pretty straightforward. Then again, outside of sports stats and celeb birthdays/marriage/movies score have played in, I don’tuse them much. I’d never go to that site for substantive news. Anyone that does that, has only themselves to blame.

Jayden Daniels pic is still from ASU days, which is comical.

There’s no “again” about it. Obtuse is claiming a historical reason for the change whereas you’re admitting the change came about for the reason I stated.
