They are a dime a dozen. If they are telling you to leave your child at home due to COVID, they aren't worth a crap anyway

Our hospital just went back to ZERO visitor policy.
MD offices are gonna follow and make empty waiting rooms or close and just do virtual visits.

Great idea on their part ... can't look in their ears ... can't listen to their lungs ... can't check their throat ...
WTF is wrong with these people? Doctors signed up to see .. wait for it .. SICK PEOPLE.

I would message the doc directly through the patient portal to voice your displeasure before doing this. They may not know that the front desk is doing this.

Dude this has fricked us too. We have two toddlers and my wife can't go to see her doctors with either one of them. It's outrageous.

It's possible that the policy isn't Covid related at all. Many Ob/Gyn offices, for example, have this rule in place. Even my nail salon won't allow children under 5
BUT scheduling should tell EVERYONE the policy when scheduling.

Ours does. Doesn't help us. We don't have a family support system for kids and schools are intermittently closed.
We have to pay for babysitters to come at random daytime hours so my wife can go to the doctor. It's outrageous. The younger of our toddlers would just sit in a stroller the whole damn time. Can even put a cover over it if they want.

They didnt say anything about this when we scheduled this appointment.
This is my biggest problem with it. I was prepared to say "Those are the rules and you knew that," but if you didn't know that and they didn't mention it while scheduling then that's not okay. I feel like the onus is on them to let patients know shite like that.

It's dumb as hell, but it's also 2020, people make really stupid decisions/rules because of this nonsense.

Plenty of OBs have the policy of no children except for newborns.
My kids are in their thirties, and this was the policy when I was pregnant with them. It was to protect pregnant women from Chicken Pox, etc.

Your wife is having a rough day. I kicked her out this morning too.

We called, told them we had a baby. Didnt think the semantics regarding 6 weeks or 17 months was relevant. Guess that's our mistake.
Not knowing a 17 month old is no longer considered a baby is your first one.

Maybe you should keep the kid, so she can go to the doctor.
It's not pediatrics. Adults don't care to sit in a waiting room with your snot nosed kids crying and running around while waiting on their PCP.
I love it.

What is the fricking difference between a 6 week old and a 17 month old as it relates to the virus?
6 week old stays in the car seat/carrier and sleeps the whole time, looking cute. A 1.5 year old goes around the office licking everything and annoying everybody.
Also a mom cant really leave a 6 wk old if its breast feeding.

17 month old might be in daycare or otherwise interact with a lot more people who could give them something than a 6 week old would. I don't think it is corona specific, my wife has never been able to take our toddlers to the OB with her except as newborns

WHAT ABOUT ALL THE SINGLE MOMS THE MEDIA HYPES ALL THE TIME. I GUESS FUUCK THEM NOW SINCE WE CANT USE THEM FOR OUR AGENDA. Yes I'm typing in caps on purpose because I'm tired of all the stupidity, double standards and hypocrisy.
