That's beyond dumb and there isn't a shred of logic to be found

Have your wife post her distaste on Facebook and tag the doctor office. They will contact you shortly with new appt time.

Her answer should have been "no thanks I'm here to see the doctor, have a nice day"

Call their bluff. No one wants to call the cops on a lady with a baby for sitting down quietly.

Was being slightly sarcastic but that seems to get ppl to crawfish and make things right sometimes. I would honestly just find a new doctor.

I would love to hear the logic behind that, however I bet the response would be "uh we are in a pandemic".

We called, told them we had a baby. Didnt think the semantics regarding 6 weeks or 17 months was relevant.

A 17 month old isn't a baby by most people's definition.

ETA Whoever your wife spoke to absolutely should have clarified their policy though, since baby obviously means different things to different people.

Why are y’all calling your child a 17 month old?

People are still confused why deaths so high due to covid. People cannot even see their doctors.

It was all the Bama gear. Probably thought she wasn’t going to pay.

I keed, I keed.

It is stupid and I just retired from a hospital. The inability of some people to use good judgment was a constant frustration, especially when Covid hit.

Here's another good one. I had an Endoscopy done to check the condition of my stomach several months ago and the Dr. wanted to schedule another one in 3 months due to having a couple small ulcers.

So, I get a call from his office to set up an appointment and these were the conditions.

Go to a the hospital where the test was to be performed and have a Covid test done.

Go home and wait for the results, and if negative they wanted me to stay home in total quarantine for 2 weeks prior to the new Endoscopy being done.

I had to have someone with me because they put you under for this procedure, but they couldn't be in the office until it came time for me to be released.

I told them to frick off.

Are we suppose to just let our kids outside to fricking forage after they are older than 6 weeks when we have to go to the doctor?

She should have told them that the child was just born 16 months late.

Sounds dumb.

Frontline employees are not known for their ability/are not give much latitude in making reasonable adjustments to policy.

When my kid was about 18 months I took him for his appointment and they had an outside check in desk. A worker there asked me where his mask was with dismay, to which I responded with how old he is. My tone conveyed the message.

She said she couldn't guarantee he'd be seen. Of course, after walking past her it wasn't a problem or made any sense. I'm sure she just thought she was consistently applying the requirement to "everyone."

Just tell them that your kid identifies as a six week old.
