Look, just because you’re old doesn’t mean you are dead. I hope that if I ever get old i’m Still able to date and entertain and enjoy some quality of sexual life. Be there for your mom and support her finding some sort of happiness unless the guy is using her.

Mind your own business and be supportive

As weird as it would be for me and my kids I wish my mom would find someone. It has been almost four years since my father passed and my mom is still wallowing in grief of the life she used to have. She was a stay at home house Wife for 30 years.

My mom started dating someone not too long after she and my dad divorced. That was 18 years ago and they are still together, though they never married. Probably the best thing that could have happened for her after my dad. I love that man.

When my cousin was about 12 years old, he pitched a fit because his widowed grandmother (on the other side of the family from me) had a new feller. She broke it off. I thought that was really sad.

5 years is long enough. If he's a good guy and makes her happy, be happy for her.

My mom started dating someone about 3 weeks after my dad died, I thought that was way too soon, but I didn't tell her. That was on her, my dad passed away in 1998 and my mom is married to that guy now, but him and I didn't jive. We had some "knock down, drag out" moments, but it had nothing to do with when him and my mom started dating.

He is very manipulative and has control issues and I just had to let him know to not frick with anything that involves business between my mom and I.

My FIL passed away in 2010, my wife's aunt died in 2011. My MIL started cruising around the world with my wife's uncle. So my mother in law was now sleeping with her sisters husband. Her excuse was they knew the same people.
In their defense they were in their 80's, so she had a point.

You let him know where the rubber meets the road. I like it.

Exact thing happened for us, my mom started dating quicker at like 3 years. She was just hurting too much and was always alone because me and sister left home by then. Her 1st BF was a major douche and I kicked his arse one night when I was drunk. Then she recently got re married to a pretty great man. We knew him growing up and he has been great to my mom, and that’s all I ask. It’s still weird, but me and him have become pretty good friends and he treats us all as his own.

If there’s any kind of money involved seek out the BEST estate attorney you can find and have them create a trust for your parent. It will be much cheaper than dealing with the issues later.

To keep it protected it has to be in Trust for 5 yrs now, too. Not 3 as once was.

I think we may have the same mom. Almost exact same scenario with my mom and I live in Tulsa. Doesn't bother me a bit. She's still young....65...and should enjoy her life as she see's fit.
