It's because our commie legislature let illegals obtain driver licenses.
Millions of more cars on the road, busses are empty.

All it takes is one a-hole (fault or legally not at fault) to cause a wreck or traffic would flow smoothly. I’ve been driving for 30 years and have never been in a wreck because I drive defensively and not like an a-hole.

This is really number one. For every second an idiot pauses at a green light it creates 4 seconds of residual delay.

Add to this people drive like they live, slacker dumb@sses. We have a generation of people who drive like soft pillows.

And on the flip side you have annoying buzz saws weaving in and out like they are gamers not worried about the people they just killed.

Lastly, insurance. Every wreck people sit in the travel lanes when their vehicle can be moved to the shoulder because some idiot has told a generation of people and women to not move the car, because insurance. There is no adjuster showing up and the cops do not car who was at fault unless they are drunk.

Live in DFW. I make it a point to not use my phone while I'm driving unless it's hands free. The amount of morons that drive up and down 75 staring at their phones causing traffic issues is so damn high.

Anytime I see someone that is 10 car lengths behind the closet car causing traffic to build up it's because they are on their phone. One day I'm going to lose it on someone.

More packages does not necessarily equate to more vehicles on the interstate. Most trucks run under full capacity. I can tell you the many times I would bring a Sears load from Jacksonville with only 10 or less appliances on a 53 ft trailer.

Wrong. One vehicle delivers multiple packages.

I was going to say, those vehicles each make hundreds of stops a day.

If there was no delivery, those 200 households would all have to go out and buy something vs the one delivery truck.

It's local politics not giving a shite about infrastructure (pessimistic view) or playing the long game and knowing that massive changes will soon occur with technology due to self driving cars and/or other things (optimist). It's probably somewhere in the middle where dumb politicians don't care and a large portion of smart ones don't want to spend money on something that will instantly be outdated due to pop size timing, much less new tech.

It's infuriating. People in newish cars still holding and looking down at their phones. Turning right at a snail's pace.

right, so when more people got the newspaper delivered, and milk and eggs were delivered and doctors made house calls, the roads were grid lock.

Or maybe it's just more cars on the roads without the forethought of OVER investing in infrastructure instead of our government "investing" in dumb shite.

Louisiana politicians will support the construction of 3-4 high density housing complexes in what was previously a nice area to live without prior investment in infrastructure/law enforcement to support the population increase. Then wait until the roads are falling apart and traffic is almost unbearable. Then they finally expand infrastructure as cheaply as possible at the worst time and act like they are saviors of the community! Thank you Covington, LA.

why your traffic sucks so bad now.

Because everyone moved out of BR but still work inside city limits. More cars on the road = more traffic. Compounded with road upgrades being decades behind. Another factor that is minor, but people have no interest in carpooling. (self included).

Also a BR issue, with no reliable public transit, the only convenient way to get from A to B is to drive yourself.

The average US household now receives approximately 170 packages per year now. That's amazing and it's a huge problem. That would put EBR Parish at around 30,000,000 packages delivered yearly. Think about how many additional vehicles are on the roads each day to make those deliveries. 82,000 packages delivered every day in EBR Parish alone

It never really occurred to me just how bad it was until the blizzard in Louisiana. For 3 days no delivery trucks rambled down our street.

And then I realized just how loud, noisy and awful it is to have a delivery truck of some kind rolling down your street 12-20 times a day.

It’s people playing on their phones constantly and not paying attention to traffic conditions. Missing green lights. Driving way below the speed limits. Taking excessive amounts of time to make simple right turns.

The roads will become 1000X safer and less congested once everyone has a fully self driving vehicle.
