Because calling the paramedics is what you do when someone is apparently having a drug overdose.

Ding Ding Ding

And they were restraining him because he was under arrest and was passively and actively resisting arrest for minutes before he put himself on the ground.

We would've slipped those cuffs I bet. DC knew it.

You can't exhibit signs of overdose yet not be incapacitated or dead?

If it was determined that he needed medical assistance and was incapacitated why did Chauvin continue to kneel on his neck?

Video made it look like it wasn't on his neck as much as his shoulder blade, but continue to forward that bullshite narrative.

Also, the police are under no duty to let a guy fight them a second time. They don't have to put themselves in a position where he can fight effectively.

Sure, but when you go from signs of drug intoxication with incredible agitation to death within a matter of minutes, the part where you’re lying motionless on the ground likely falls under the category of “incapacitation.”

He didn’t overdose?

I watched the entire video and not one time did the police know what he was on. They didn’t know because they asked him multiple times and he said he wasn’t on anything. Is that the officers fault that Saint George didn’t tell them he had ingested a lethal amount of fentanyl?

This. It was pretty apparent he was fricked up out of his mind the minute police started interacting with him. He then proceeded to wig out screaming he couldn't breathe before being put on the ground.

Wouldn't medical professionals need to be called if a clearly agitated person is claiming they're having difficulty breathing?

People do all kinds of weird shite on drugs. The suspect's erratic behavior and uncertainty of the situation is why they are restrained. Look up videos of dudes on speedballs or pcp being in a comatose state then out of nowhere have superhuman stregth, break cuffs, feel no pain, and injury people.

But wouldn't an opioid drug overdose work to subdue an individual in and of itself? An overdosing (opioids) and dying person surely can't put up too much'a fuss.

You should watch the trial. This will of course be discussed in detail but Floyd's girlfriend actually discussed today that they had been getting drugs that were not like the normal opiates they were used to taking. They made her jittery and kept her up all night. The defense I believe in opening statements said that the drugs he ingested were manufactured on the streets and were a combo of meth and opiate but designed to look like percocets. The dealer he is suspected of getting these pills from was in his car the day he died.

And just think. 1 grain of fentanyl is 100 times stronger than pcp. He could have torn them apart like a Kodiak.

The point is that it's better to take advantage of restraint while it is available instead of having a drugged-u criminal who is under arrest mobile.

Hmm. Good points. It is actually a different world out there these days regarding those things, i.e. pill presses are common. Street people out there making who knows what. Never know what you might get. Sounds like he got his hands on a hot sidewinder.

EMS was called initially because he slammed his head on the police car when he was resisting arrest. His mouth started to bleed. Both paramedics testified that the initial call was for a mouth injury. The second paramedic testified that when he was working on floyd he saw a superficial mouth injury with bleeding. The defense attorneys said that there is blood on the inside of the police cruiser that confirms this.

Why do you give a shite?

Did you know him? People die everyday. Are you concerned about all of the other people who died in the last 10 months?
