Hmmm. I'd imagine there are many very high IQs at a Barrett-Jackson auction, full of passionate vehicle enthusiasts.

Does nobody buy them because they like the way they look?
Based upon previous threads, most OT truck owners buy their trucks only based upon looks. It dominates any conversation about trucks. Reliability is hardly mentioned.

I'm not a "Ford" guy. When somebody is joking around with me and makes a derogatory remark about Fords, it completely misses me because I really don't give a shite about what brand I'm driving.
When I bought my new truck in '14, I test drove 4 major brands. Chevy, GMC, Toyota and Ford.
They all had some things I preferred over the others. I know Toyota was a better built truck than the others, but to get the amenities of the Ford would have cost me another $7000 dollars. The GM trucks were a couple thousand more and I wasn't impressed with their quality.
I like my F-150, but it's not infallible.

I like my F-150 because my company leases it for me and pays all gas and maintenance costs. I also have unlimited personal mile allowance and my wife is allowed to drive it also. If I were paying for it I would have a GMC or Dodge.

I drive a truck and rarely tow anything. I'm kind of a do-it-yourself'er and love having a bed and for hauling shite around. I'm 42 and have had a car for 18 months and a SUV for 2 years and hated it. I wouldn't say I'm passionate about it though. It's just what I prefer to drive

Trucks are an extension of our bodies.

Maybe because relative to the past these vehicles are very reliable and therefore reliability isn’t in the forefront of buyers’ minds?
None of the trucks today are breaking down regularly and leaving people stranded.

I love these posts. Whoever you're talking about spent exactly zero if your dollars so why do you care what they drive to work?
And how do you know that same guy isn't pulling around a 42' center console on the weekends?

Would hardly describe myself as passionate about my Ram. Hell, the sumbitch stays dirty this time of year because I'm hunting all the time.
But, I'd rather drive a truck than anything else. It fits my needs. I can't go hunting in some of the places I hunt in a car. And if I'm going to choose between an SUV and a truck, it's going to be the truck every time.

Probably because nobody is going to pull an oversized load permit to move their boat just to run it, along with a pilot car for a 13' beam boat.
Only a poor would think you drag around a 42' boat, they stay on a lift. Plus a 42' boat wet and with a trailer would weigh more than even a Ram 350 or F450 could pull.

I drive a truck because I’m a man and men drive trucks.
Or classic muscle cars.
