F-Series buyers include ranchers, construction workers, small business owners, oil and gas executives and anyone who wants to pull big loads.

Sam Parnagian oversees thousands of acres of fresh grapes and mandarin oranges that will be sold at Costco and Sam's Club. Each day, he drives a 2017 F-250 Platinum through California's heartland, the third full-size pickup he has owned. "I bought one Ford and never looked back," he explained. The 26-year-old vice president of operations at Fowler Packing in Fresno, Calif., is a prime example of why the pickup sales streak is likely to continue bolstering profits at Ford, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler.

quote:

Ford dominates the market, with F-Series truck sales at a 12-year high. The company benefits from having the newest products in this lucrative segment, an advantage that ends next year with the unveiling of Fiat Chrysler's redesigned 2019 Ram pickup at the North American International Auto Show. Shortly after, General Motors will launch updated designs of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.

quote:

Jeremiah Parker and Anne DeHaven of Shoreham, Vermont each own F-150 pickup trucks. He is a retired contractor. She manages a horse farm. Parker, 67, a retired contractor from Shoreham, Vt., has owned seven F-150 pickups and an F-250 for towing a big camper. DeHaven has owned three F-150 pickups over the past decade. “I manage a horse farm, so a truck is just as important as the air I breathe,” DeHaven said. “People are funny about their trucks. Some are Chevy people, some are Dodge folks. I’m a Ford gal."

I'm not passionate about my F150. I just enjoy the reliability of it.

It should serve as a good indicator to people, which company builds the worst truck. It's the one women flock to - Ford.

Women should not be allowed to drive trucks or Jeeps.

I understand if people need a truck for work or some other practical reason.

The vast majority of people don't need a truck for practical reasons.

Some buy for comfort. Some buy because they feel safer. Some buy because they feel like they can drive it forever.

A LOT of them buy for status.

Is there some law though that says if you own a truck you have to drive with the window down and your left arm hanging out?

When I had a truck it was for comfort, and to be self sufficient.

My ol' man bought a new F150 Custom in 79, I was 10. He's driving Ford pickups exclusively ever since. I've had a Ford, Chevy, 2 Rams and a Nissan. I've never got why folks are so passionate about brands.

Show me anyone "passionate" about a vehicle and I'll show you a low IQ.

I see small-sack, well groomed, dress shirt baws driving $80k ginormous pickups everyday across the Causeway and I ask myself, "why?"

Why would you spend $450 PER MONTH, $5,400 per year in gas to commute in a heavy duty, blue collar, work truck to your office job on Poydras you fricking cuck?

The only answer I can come up with is, "truck nutz".

...you forgot the $14,000 to overhaul and repair the Powerstroke Diesel every 90,000 miles.

I did, and I also liked what I got for what I paid.

I really like the way the GMC's look the best. But for what I paid for my F-150, the GMC equivalent of that would have been at least $20,000 more.

I'm not a "Ford" guy. When somebody is joking around with me and makes a derogatory remark about Fords, it completely misses me because I really don't give a shite about what brand I'm driving.

Just wait until the 2019 Ram and 2019 GMC/chevy truck come out. Every crisp collar will have a $60k vehicle.
